Only caught a few minutes of it myself. Waiting on libsyn site to post the mp3 so I can listen.

Can't listen now. Did he have an opinion on UCF or is that iiwii?

I hope everyone is rested, healthy, and sharp on Saturday and we give Pittsburgh their worst beating of the season. Not that I hate Pitt, it is just I would like for us to get some of the backups playing more.

I'd guess Benson will get a quarter off since we have solid backups and come back into the game fresh, if needed at all.

Not sure how solid Pitt's OL is. Jax State's was pretty solid with a few guys that had burned out at other schools up front and at LB. I hope Pitt studied the Jax State film and comes out and does the exact same thing. We had a few plays that would have went for miles had we been sharper - not coming off of 5 days. The Searcy broken play early would have been a TD. We have a lot of weapons this season. Just protect the ball.

He was highly complimentary of the athleticism of the two young QB's. Said Jay Jones can do things other can't. Both of them need to gain a better understanding of the intricacies of the offence and come to practice every day focused on getting better.

He seemed really excited about being able to run inside with TaQuan. Said we hadn't had that since Josh and Tevin.

In response to a question about players leaving if they don't have a starting job, he talked about a need for those players to learn to compete. Said if a player's attitude needs to be that every practice is an opportunity to unseat the starter. If the player's attitude is that he's 4th string and won't ever be able to play, then maybe that player ought to leave. He said he had a conversation with a freshman player that morning about competing. The player is going to redshirt this year and apparently thinks that means he'll never get a chance to play. CPJ said he asked what that player thought of Justin Thomas. The player said he was good. CPJ then noted that Thomas didn't play for his first two years, and gave some other examples. The basic issue is that the players are used to being the best player on their team. Now that they are on a team where every player was the best player on his former team and players have to adjust to the new reality that they may no longer be the best player on the team. Reiterated that they play the best player at teach position.

wow, a guy ALREADY re-thinking his decision after 6 wks--there is a downside to getting highly-sought players (or fragile ones)

I think this is perfectly normal. A college freshman never knows exactly what they are getting into, football player or not, and there are going to be times where you doubt yourself or your decision to go there. An 18 year old is still transitioning to adulthood/maturity and sometimes need a pep talk from a mentor.

Phillip Wheeler comes to mind as a redshirt that excelled too. It wasn't due to injury, as I recall, but didn't Wheeler play his freshman year and redshirt his sophomore year? I am getting old, but that is how I remember it.

He was disappointed, but said it was up to them to cancel. He wants a game for October 7.

That's how I remember it as well.
