He was highly complimentary of the athleticism of the two young QB's. Said Jay Jones can do things other can't. Both of them need to gain a better understanding of the intricacies of the offence and come to practice every day focused on getting better.
He seemed really excited about being able to run inside with TaQuan. Said we hadn't had that since Josh and Tevin.
In response to a question about players leaving if they don't have a starting job, he talked about a need for those players to learn to compete. Said if a player's attitude needs to be that every practice is an opportunity to unseat the starter. If the player's attitude is that he's 4th string and won't ever be able to play, then maybe that player ought to leave. He said he had a conversation with a freshman player that morning about competing. The player is going to redshirt this year and apparently thinks that means he'll never get a chance to play. CPJ said he asked what that player thought of Justin Thomas. The player said he was good. CPJ then noted that Thomas didn't play for his first two years, and gave some other examples. The basic issue is that the players are used to being the best player on their team. Now that they are on a team where every player was the best player on his former team and players have to adjust to the new reality that they may no longer be the best player on the team. Reiterated that they play the best player at teach position.
