Rain on Saturday

This should make things interesting. I hope the field doesn't turn into a big sloppy mess.

I'd like to think a rainy day would help us due to our running offense, but I also know that we'll probably be prone to fumble in our first bad weather game under CPJ.

Field will be in good shape. I believe BC has field turf. Still may have to deal with a wet ball.

Fortunately, most of Hannah's wind field is on the East side, so they're only going to have 10mph winds instead of 40+mph!

Personally, I would rather have the 40+ because we can't kick anyway and that would just possibly even the playing field. Plus 40+mph wind would have some affect on the passing game along with rain

Offensively....rain would not be good for us as the idea Saturday is to take advantage of our speed over their size on defense...the option on the outside would be a big part of the game.

With a wet ball we may have to attack the middle more...not a strength for us at this point with a new OL against one of the largest and toughest DL's in the country.

Wasn't it Bear Bryant who before a GT game way back when meet with a recruit before a game, and it was pouring rain outside. The recruit commented that Bryant seemed pre-occupied, kept staring out the window saying "this is Dodd's weather" . GT went on to win the game. I think I heard this in one of those old school GT books?

If they have field turf as suggested above the field should be okay and our speed should still be an advantage. Ball security will be a problem though.

I do not believe it will rain in Boston before the game is over. Noon start is good for us this time.

This is not good imo; the last few rainy games I remember didn't go too well. (Wake, Utah and so on) Although this is a new team and a new staff...

I agree that it does seem like turf conditions are not affected as much as in the past as many college fields have improved.

This is probably more of a problem if it is heavy rains during the game where you cannot keep the ball dry...ball security as you mentioned.

It looks like the system has slowed down some...there is a 50% chance of showers at noon...and 80% by 4:00pm.

Rain & Cold vs option....revisit '74 in Athens....we slaughtered em with Pepper's option.

"Dodd's Weather"
I have the original program from that game, Nov. 17, 1962, Kim King tells that story in his book, Tales from the Georgia Tech Sideline. Tech beat an undefeated national champion Alabama team, ending a 26 game win streak.
Dodd would call that his greatest victory.
