Home EC got phased out in my high school. I wouldn't be surprised if 80% of the kids I graduated with a decade ago couldn't shop or cook for themselves.
 
Ahhhhhh....a buying groceries class.

I see a Management degree has become more challenging than when I was at Tech.
 
I know it sounds funny on its surface, but in reality most college kids have no clue how to choose groceries based on nutritional content. They just pick based on experience and taste. Much like most on this board do.

My guess is this board's health profile is inline with the national obesity rates (pushing 40%), if not higher.

As a SA, my freshmen year was full of Ramen Noodles, Hot Pockets, Totino's, Pizza Rolls, and Bagel Bites when I wasn't eating in the cafeteria.

This. Part of FASET was a discussion on shopping for essentials as well as where the grocery stores were. At that time, we had Kroger and Big Star on Howell Mill Rd. and Winn-Dixie on Collier Rd.

In my day, we had the disco Kroger next to Limelight, and the Crisco Kroger close to Piedmont Park.
