Random Speculation about Faulkner

With Gailey, his recruiting classes were not good but it seemed we were always developing and putting players in the NFL with consistency. The one position he completely whiffed on both talent and development-wise was unfortunately the most important position on the team.

By the time he got that blue chip recruiting class, he was gone before we could see the results.
The 2006 ACC Championship flop against WF scoring on 6 points with one of the best offensive players to ever play CFB in our huddle was the worst loss of his GT career.

Be careful thinking it’s just plug & play with an elite coach. There are “reports” on the Jr board (U of South Carolina, they are not USC) that Beamer is going after CBF to be the OC.

And CBF is a finalist for the Footballscoop OC of the Year:

Thats retarded, unless Faulkner is playing some 4D chess about coming in and then they fire Beamer and he gets the chair. He isnt going to that dumpster fire. On the lateral move front, I guess its possible UF, Oregon, PSU, Ole Miss could throw $Millions at him. I dont see it, though.

He may never get a better opportunity with his pick of stepping-stone G5 positions available, though. Sure, one comes open every year, but this year he has a slew of teams and could choose the best situation.

This. Clemson’s success wasn’t because of Lawrence. It was because of their Defense.
Chicken or the egg. I'll argue the assistants looked good because of the players, not vice- versa.

Now if you want to sell me an assistant who is a recruiter, I might buy into that. The only problem is money is the recruiter these days, not the coaches.

I think it would be good for the AA to create a position for roster management separate from the football and basketball programs. Let those two handle the money and have them take most of that load off the HC. The setup would be similar to good NFL teams. I wouldn’t put it on the AD who has to focus institute wide, including facilities.

You mean this guy?

He played for CPJ at Navy for his freshman year! Impressive resume.

Cosh played football at the U.S. Naval Academy from 2007-10, which included his freshman season under legendary Navy and Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson. Following his graduation and commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps, Cosh spent one season as an offensive graduate assistant at Navy before being stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. and assigned to the Marine Corps’ Second Combat Engineer Battalion. After successful completion of the Combat Engineer Officer Course (CEOC), he served as a Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer and Officer in Charge of the ETA 9/10 Demolitions Range during his time with the Second Combat Engineer Battalion.
He was highly decorated, as the junior officer recipient of the peer-selected 2014 Marine Corps Forced Command Atlantic Leadership Award, as well as the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal (GWOT), National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Following his conclusion of active duty service in May 2016, Cosh was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain and matriculated to Notre Dame.
He holds a B.S. in economics from the U.S. Naval Academy (2011) to go along with his M.B.A. with corporate finance and business analytics concentrations from Notre Dame (2018).

The 2nd most valuable person in the GT athletic department is the guy they hired that is an expert in NFL salary cap management. He needs to be looked after as much as Key.

I'll delete this post in an hour.

Word down here is Sumrall is wanting Faulkner in the worst way. It’s down to him and OC from Tennessee for the OC position at UF next year. I wouldn’t give it a thought but apparently it’s gaining traction. Son in law has a couple of insiders who say Sumrall really likes Faulkner. UF has ponied up 16.3 mil for staff salaries which puts them atop the list money wise.

A fellow Sapper! I don't know if the Marines use that term, but close enough... Essayons, brother!

Just saw this on my X feed.

Maybe not final. Let's hope.

I feel like Key has said he at least contributes to the run game design. So maybe we're not losing everything there.

Two different friends tell me they heard (yeah, I know, rumors) that Tech actually offered Faulkner a little more than Florida offered him, and yet he said, "no thanks."

Points back to my theory of him already getting credit for a massive turnaround here on offense and it being more difficult to sustain success than pull something out of the ditch and run it for a short while. He’s going to UF to pull them out of the ditch then head for his HC job.
