How would you rate his performance for the year thus far....1=poor 10=excellent?

I would say it has been 7 on his part. Nix would get a 4 1/2 to 5 on his efforts of using CJ effectively.

Talk to me fellows.... Any thoughts? (Step on up and vote.)

he has had some drops this year. But he has also had some fantastic catches. Against ND he was incredible during the 1st half.

Probably a 7 b/c of LOFTY expectations. I would also give Nix a 7. The ND game showed some imagination and he got hurt the last game.

the other WR's are going to have to step up for him to really break through

Hahahaha....yeah like when we were 1rst and 10 from the ND 13....guess Nix "imagined" he could score w/o even throwing to the All-American, and then on 3rd and 11 he imagined that if he could just get the ball in the middle of the field all FG kicker might make the chip shot FG. Forget about "imaging" throwing the ball to Calvin, at least once. It's bad when even the commentators call you out.

But back to this subj...
I haven't seen enough of Calvin yet to rate him yet, but he has made the most of his opportunities, except for the only drop I remember, which came after a nasty lick, but anybody would've dropped that one.

I find it hilarious that so many people slammed Nix for throwing at Calvin in the EZ in the Troy game, when we threw the INT, and equally hilarious that so many people slammed Gailey for throwing at Calvin in the EZ at the end of the NC State game last year, when people obviously slam them both for NOT throwing at him when they don't.

The only right play is a play that works..

..except when its a throw to the fullback for a touchdown on fourth and 1, in which case it's still the wrong play because we didn't get the TD in a different fashion.

This is why Tech fans suck.

Good point. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

if he would have thrown the Calvin on the 1st and 10 it would have been the EXACT same play as the TD. Had it been an INT EVERYONE WOULD be ripping Nix for using the exact play.

7. He's dropped 2 big balls this year that he has amazed us by catching in the past. He still hasn't gotten untracked yet. He's due a big game.

a WR is TOTALLY in control of the QB who throws and the OC who calls the play. You can only do well if they are doing well.

I can't recall every slamming Nix/Gailey for calling Calvin's number. How can you? Throwing him the ball is our best chance of winning.

I actually liked the throw to calvin at NC St. game last year, it was the most un-Chan thing Chan has ever done, very unpredictable and gutsy and it was a high percentage play in my opinion, just a good hit by the DB and a slightly errant throw by RB, but he still should've hung on...but he's only human.

No, you slammed them for not calling his number. Three other fonts in the past week slammed them for calling his number. Essentially everyone slamed them for the end of the NC State game. For Tech fans, every playcall is a bad one.

I'm with you on the NC State call, too. I thought it was a great playcall, and it was pretty much all we could do after burning our last timeout. It was that, or the fade, or the fieldgoal.

Agree ! Last Sat. against Troy Mr. Miracle's hands were a bit off - not holding on - pass over the middle in a crowd - which we are use to seeing him catch these.

Also, thought there should have been a penalty called on the corner play in the endzone as the d back was all over CJ.
