would you play Reuben on Saturday (assuming he's physically ready)?

Based on what I know, which isn't anything other than the mainstream stuff, NO.
With everything else going on, we could do without another PR nightmare.

He will probably play on kick coverage if you ask

me.

That way we comply beyond the minimum with the court order and yet keep our image as pure as possible.

Re: He will probably play on kick coverage if you

At this point I don't see much difference between playing him and not. If the staff thinks that it will be beneficial to have him on the field at a given time, then hell yeah, let the kid be. No need to deprive him of an oppertunity, or ourselves of one when he hasn't be convicted on anything yet.

Re: He will probably play on kick coverage if you

If there was a high road to take, I would take it. The Fulton County judge has put Tech in a no win situation on this.
However, there is a big difference between forcing us to put him back on the roster, and forcing us to play him. No judge can do that.
If he plays, the code of conduct that every Tech athlete signs should be ripped up and thrown out. There is only something to lose if RH plays at this point.

Re: He will probably play on kick coverage if you

There is no way he'll be in playing shape in time for any game other than the bowl game anyway so I don't see it as a problem. He'll look slow and disoriented more than likely if he does see the field...I'm praying he doesn't because that probably means we are down by 35+ points

Re: He will probably play on kick coverage if you

Tell me more about this code of conduct that players sign.

Re: He will probably play on kick coverage if you

There very definitely is one, and it covers all the things that you would think it would. Some would see various "rules" as unfair compared to legal rights, but its there to protect the image of Tech. No one is forced to sign as long as you turn in your playbook. At least that's what was in place when I was there. If its been dropped since, I would be surprised.
Its not some kind of secret society. I would think all schools have their own version of it.

Re: He will probably play on kick coverage if you

Im guessing its similiar to the code of conduct that any visible positions have to deal with, eg Student Gov't big men, Publications kids, etc. Nothing big, just standard "don't be stupid, and don't make Tech look stupid stuff".

That's the one.

the issue is what is GT\'s liability......

I just skimmed the quotes by CG but I believe it was something like "I am obligated to put my best players on the field."

That sounds like lawyer speak to me. Understand that CG would be deposed and the first question under oath would be was RH one of your best players.

So GT's lawyers MIGHT be driving this boat. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/werd.gif

Re: the issue is what is GT\'s liability......

Don't you believe that CG is implying that RH is not one of the best players, and therefore will not be played?

Re: the issue is what is GT\'s liability......

CG was quoted in the ajc [ QUOTE ]
"He seems to be in great shape," coach Chan Gailey said. "He may play more than I thought he would. He knew what was going on. He retained a lot.

[/ QUOTE ]
I think this means RH is going to see significant playing time over the next couple weeks. Could go either way though, we'll see.

[/ QUOTE ]No. RH (assuming he hasn't regressed much since spring) is clearly better than 1 of our starting corners.

Re: the issue is what is GT\'s liability......

So does M.Y. have to give up his number or can we have 2 #9s?

[/ QUOTE ]I'm pretty sure you can have 2 with the same number - they just can't be on the field at the same time.

As far as GT's liability - we're between a rock and a hard place. I've been thinking "No" all along but deepsnap's response on a similar thread on the Hive helped me see the other side.

Re: the issue is what is GT\'s liability......

They're talking about using RH on special teams a fair amount (and probably his best, quickest chance to see the field) so there may be a conflict. Of course if M.Y. doesn't learn to take more than a three step drop on his kickoffs he won't be out there anyway.

If he plays on KO coverage team, then one of them will have to change numbers.
