I'm sure there will be a ton of posts like this so I will try and be succinct.

We look really bad.

That's through our eyes, who are accustomed to the triple option and the blocking schemes and the intricacies of the offense. We know what's supposed to happen (for the most part) and are not expecting much through the passing game or for Thomas to scramble very much.

I'm watching Texas, Florida/Tennessee- these teams are supposed to be worse than us but look much better in all aspects.

Have we taken 4 steps back? Just from watching on TV, we look so slow, so unorganized, and frankly, particularly in special teams, so inept. Is this recruiting/injuries?

Obligatory ...:. Don't worry I'll post my highlight video/ predictor/ hot chick.

Love you all

  1. Terrible perimeter blocking.
  2. Terrible OL blocking.
  3. Skov is a caveman back there.
  4. Sercey is the only one shown an ability to be a playmaker on O and he's out now.
  5. JT's got his head up his ass trying to be Superman.

We need a bye week in the worst way. We need to hit reset button with this team.

Texas still looks better than us. At least they didnt lose to DUKE.

We also didn't lose to Notre Dame 38-3. I think you posted enough for today. Time to take a time out.

In following Tech since the mid-70's, it's seldom that this program builds consistency after a really good year or two… And seemingly last year to this year will be no different.

To be a realist, this team lost a lot of talent at the skill positions as well as an All-American offensive lineman. Further, players that were to be depended on this year to step in and fill some shoes have been injured, some prior to the start of the season and some already during the season.

Justin Thomas, to me, is trying to do too much and in doing so is making mistakes. I'm not putting blame on him because he lost a lot of talent that was around him… A lot of senior team leaders.

It's pretty obvious now that those first two games against crap opponents masked some deficiencies. Problems that CPJ brought up before the start of the season. While I'm not giving up on the season, I never do as I always look at the next game on the schedule as winnable, I am lowering my expectations. I'll be satisfied with the second-tier bowl game this year.

Football factory schools seem to be able to reload each and every year. History, again the 40 year history that I've witnessed as a fan of Georgia Tech football, tells me that Georgia Tech does not possess that abilily. Tech is a unique school from an academic perspective, we all know that, but I hate making that an excuse.

I don't mean for this post to sound like a bunch of excuses, I'm just trying to be a realist.

Juene is developing into a solid player.

Our backup center is not as good as our starting center.

Our OL has forgotten what to do when and tries to shoot the gap.

In retrospect, JT5 playing in a no tackle jersey seems to have made our OL soft.

Coverage team is bad. Just bad.

Coverage team is easily twice as good as aback receiving.

Aback receiving is three times better than aback blocking

Lowering expectations for this season is a must. I don't like going back to mediocrity coming off of last year's outcome, but it is what it is. They got time to correct some things. Hopefully they do. But I liked our team better when they had a chip on their shoulder, playing lights out trying to make a point. Hopefully we get something similar to that team sometime this season.

Agree. Any long time TECH fan has to accept that we are not likely to have consecutive years of consistently good football. I have to say though that this year is starting much worse than expected...

I and many others underestimated the lack of experience (and frankly talent) on offense this year. But having said that, there's no excuse for the lack of energy and enthusiasm. Team was totally flat today.

I don't think they looked flat. But I think our OL has gotten zero push all year. Did we change S&C coaches? These guys don't look fat, but they are getting pwned by every D-IA opponent this year, and that includes Tulane.

Are they playing high? It doesn't really look like it. It looks like they are trying to shed the DL, but they aren't holding their blocks long enough to be effective.

I can remember about a dozen plays where we had at least 3 linemen standing up while the QB or BBack were getting up. That is BS. That means the guys they were supposed to have blocked made the tackle. That was a hugely shitty performance by the OL.

Reality is coverage team lost us the game. Offense played badly, but we still we win if we cover two kicks.

Lots of things cost us the game. If the OL could have converted on 4th and <1, we could have won.

Yes, multiple ways we could have won the game, but two returns for touchdowns (or near touchdowns) is an absolute failure.

Skov is a 7 yard gain on a big play. There were a few times if his head was up he could have cut and got another few yards.

He's looking at the wr's and ab's on plays not having the spacing they need or whiffing on blocks and he's trying to be superman.

This year reminds me of the year after the first Orange Bowl appearance...remember losing to Kansas with Nesbitt at the helm?

The reality is that this team needs to work harder than they expected. I think coach's plan to get them to stay confident but work hard post ND backfired.

They felt they lost the ND game. They didnt get beat. Well they got beat today. We won't see this type of game again. Duke is a good team, but not good enough to do what they did to us yesterday.

Frankly, I think it's a little late for has work reviving a season. It can get us to 7-5, but laurels don't offseason work make. Same as years past when we come off a good season. Don't work to overcome the talent deficit of reloading.
