Quote from CPJ when asked by the AJC what he thinks the new recruiting budget means in regards to competing with uga for recruits.

" Don't slip up or get got! I'm comin' for that number one spot! "

Nah Paul doesn't even like to recruit

I'm guessing what it really means is that the general quality and depth of the 'overlooked' recruits we so often get will improve. The great recruits we have trouble getting are already well known to everyone. We need to be able to distinguish between high quality 'diamonds in the rough' and lower quality 'diamonds in the rough.'

Is there really such a thing? If they're high quality "diamonds in the rough", they would be discovered.

The budget increase means (instead of hundred of phone calls/letters) our coaches can go make more flights, rent cars, stay at hotels, buy meals, make in-home and school visits. This builds better relationships with recruits, and it will be a difference.

This should put us on a level playing field with our local and national recruits. I am sure we still have less resources than most other major schools. However, we have a much smaller list of potential recruits. I am guessing that only 100 of the top 500 recruits can get into Tech and/or are interested in one of our degrees. We need to be laser focused on those 100 recruits. We also need to leverage our NFL players for credibility by position.

100/500? How about 50/500 at most. We are getting beat for guys by ND, Stanford, Duke, Michigan, and there are only 50 to fight over.

As long as we are guessing with zero basis for the guess, I’ll guess 300 out of 500.
