this year and next.

We will be losing a lot of talent on the Dline next year and the following. Im with 33Jacket on this one. We have got to start landing Dlineman very soon.

UF is making a strong pitch for Pridemore. I hope he sticks. I do see him adding a few pounds and playing DE. A possible Adam Oliver type DE.

But, we have to bring in Dline talent in a hurry...

2008:
DE- MJohnson, Egbuniwe
DE- Morgan, Hall, Peters
DT- Walker, Anyaibe, Walls
DT- Richard, Anderson

2009:
DE- Hall, Egbuniwe
DE- Morgan, OPEN
DT- Peters, OPEN
DT- Walls, Anderson

2010:
DE- Hall, Egbuniwe
DE- Morgan, OPEN
DT- Peters, OPEN
DT- Walls, Anderson

As you can see, we have 6 DL's that will get a lot of PT over the next three years as they will be sophomore's or younger next season. From what I understand, Peters may move inside. Additionally, I have heard rumblings that Tongo may move to DE to lessen stress on the repaired knee...plus he is getting bigger.
I would also not be surprised to see Sellers move back to DT since we will likely not be using TE's any longer...we have now rescinded offers to all TE's this year. Total speculation on my part with this young man...but I wonder if Austin Barrick has a defensive mentality at all to move from TE?
Depth is definitely a problem beginning in 2009...and the DL recruiting came to a halt with the coaching change. However, we have picked back up again with Barnes...but the truth is he is probably a much better OT recruit than a DT. You may see us get Uzzi (or Alabama)...but he is definitely an OG. Same story with Gregory Shaw...he is an OL.
Brandon Thompson was/is a KEY recruit...we really need him. Giff, Derrick Moore, and the new staff are working hard to bring in some new relationships with he and his family...we will see what happens.
We kept hanging in there through November with William Green despite many published reports out of Alabama...but he is probably unlikely now at DE. There is also a lot of concern about his ability to put on weight with his thin-hipped build...much like Key Fox.

Nice recap. If I was DC, now would not be a bad time to get out of town with my reputation intact.

Come again? I guess if you were a pussy and some sort of a jerk besides. We're talking football, right?

So PJ will continue the tradition of not throwing to the TE? :p

Again, this is making an assumption peters moves inside. If he doesn't...we have 2 scholly athletes at DT in 09.

Sellers never played DT. He was DE all the way....and wasn't that good. He isn't big enough for DT.

DE we seem to always have options and depth b/c you can move a tall LB to DE ala wilkinson in the past. But DT is a problem and if we want to have anyone playing in 09 we need to get them in now.

Ben Anderson hasn't exactly performed well either....i am concerned

Peters may have to fill the role...and probably would do it well as he keeps getting bigger.
Sellers was a step too slow for DE. I was simply talking about maybe providing some depth on the DL...he is certainly not a starter.
Too early to tell on Ben Anderson...definitely a capable backup.

I know what you are saying. Of course, this year we had a TE that could catch...and when he was healthy we threw to Peek a lot. He was third on the team in receptions with 25 for 248 yds...only 9 catches off the leader Greg Smith.

We also had a new OC this past season. Coincidence? I remember Matthews (didnt he make the one handed grab for the TD?) being able to catch before 007 got here, but we still didn't throw to him that often.

But, that is all for another topic...don't mean to make this thread stray further. I too am worried about recruiting in general, and BT would be a huge addition...

Time to work some more Shrine Bowl magic, ala Vance Walker and Sed.

My understanding was that PJ was at the Shrine Bowl practices - maybe we can hit that well again for another Walker??
