If a recruit commits and then signs with a school for any sport, can he change his mind and get out of it before he plays? If he can, are there any stipulations to sign with someone else the same year?

Not sure if I am answering your question or not... but a verbal committment means little... alot of times a commit will do this only to stop some of the phone calls etc... believe it or not, thats true.... if the verbal commit signs a Letter of Intent with a school, he/she is under scholarhip at that school... if they change their mind and want to go to another school they must sit out a year if it is a 1A school, or can play immediately at a lower level school... this applies even if they have never played in a game... but can always be overturned by the NCAA is the proper conditions exist I guess... hope this helps....

Thanks. Yes it answers my question. I really wanted to know if they could rescind the signing and play at another Div I school (same year) ... answer is no and have to sit out. I had thought without playing you might be able to resign with another Div I school and not have to sit out.

I don't like this rule. If they didn't play they should not have to sit out.
