Recruiting question

So, we have all heard by now about the recruits who might be reconsidering their commitment to GT. We have all agreed that some of this is to be expected with a new coach, especially when bringing in completely new offense. I am bummed about the thought of losing some of these big named recruits, but if it isn't the right fit (for either them or us), I completely understand. Still bummed though.

So, to cheer us up, can anyone point to any new potential recruits yet that have become more interested in GT because of this hire? Or is it still too early to tell? While it sucks to lose some of our current guys, maybe we get some that just fit better from elsewhere...Calling all recruiting guru's - help us out!

It is still kind of early. Right now, we are still in damage control mode. There should be a lot more information in the coming weeks. I am under the impression that PJ already has some guys on his radar. Most likely a few that are not on ours. Once he has a chance to get out there and speak to a few recruits, we should get a better feel for where he is going with all of this.

There's a thread on the hive which highlights potential QB targets http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=140#s=140&f=2938&t=1622006

Also there are a lot of linemen out there that we have had contact with, the line was the priority for the old staff since we had the skill position players already locked up. Now despite needing to secure previous commits the lines are still a priority (we only have McRae and he is still getting pressure from NCSU and Maryland).

after this Saturday, not much will be going on in the recruiting front. We go into a dead period until Jan 3 (this sunday is 'quiet', iirc)

I have not officially heard anything but would not be surprised at all with Renfree no longer on board if we land either Coley White or B.J. Daniels. According to a good friend of mine who is a WVU grad. Coley had narrowed it down to two WVU, and Tech before the coaching change and now thinks we are the favorites to land him. I have watched film on Coley and it did not show him pass often but man is he fast, and like his brother he only wants to go to a school who will let him play QB. I also feel Tech would be a better fit because there would be a ton of pressure on him to live up to his brother if he went to WVU. Take it for what it is but I think we have a good shot.

I would LOVE to land Coley White! If he is HALF as good as his brother he will be special

Mr. White, put on the gold, then you will be the school colors personified

When does the dead period begin? With signing day looming next month, how likely are we to bag a full load of recruits?

Edit - Left my desk to run an errand before hitting post. I see Buzzfan answered my dead period question.

But WVU was not recruiting him as a QB...but as a DB. It seems if anyone would have they would since his brother Pat is the QB there.
We had actually stopped recruiting him at all and had focused on T'Sharvan Bell as the last DB to take.

We offered him.

Coley White (6-1, 175). A three-year veteran, White has college offers to play quarterback from West Virgin, Central Michigan and Georgia Tech. The University of Louisville also is expected to offer White. Auburn has shown some interest but has not offered. He is the younger brother of West Virginia quarterback Pat White.

I know that is what one writer said...but...well nevermind.

Maybe we will get back on him...just not sure he is a dual-threat QB.
