We've been doing very well with recruiting for all things considered, picking up TJ Barnes, Jaybo Shaw, Malcom Munroe, and Marcus Wright.

How are we looking on other fronts? Are we still predicting about a 20 player recruiting class?

What I've read is that if we take most of the players left on the board we could have over 20, but it's more realistic that we are gonna get 18-20. In addition to the big names, we are in on a couple of sleeper OL's and a couple of others.

We have the open scholarships to take 25 now that we're off probation, especially with the attrition. But we started too late in the game to get enough interest from many more players that could really help us. We lost 3 commits with the coaching change, the new staff did not like most of the OL recruits on the board, and of course we suddenly got very different recruiting priorities like adding more RB's and QB's.

We're not gonna take players unlikely to contribute just to fill up slots. 09 is supposed to be a very strong year in state while 08 was a relatively weak year both academically and athletically. If we take 20 kids then we can still take 25 next year with no attrition.

Omoregie Uzzi, Brandon Thompson, Greg Shaw, and Matt Roark are a few older names that are still definite possibilities. However, several new names have emerged:

Lee Butler

Phil Smith

J.T. Floyd

Joe Jones

Rhonne Sanderson

Evan Epstein

Tevin Washington

I heard that Roark was on campus yesterday. However, I have not heard anything further. If I am not mistaken, I think that Uzzi, Smith, Butler, and Washington will be on campus this weekend.

I am positive that there will be several more new names, some that we have never heard, that will come out as these last few weeks progress.

Roark was on campus yesterday and will be back Tuesday. You can pretty much mark Greg Shaw off the list as the current staff isn't pursuing him like the old one was.

Hmmm, I thought that we seemed to be slow playing him a bit. Are there doubts regarding his athleticism in the new system?

He already had an offer, so we weren't stringing him along, he could of committed a long time ago. Its why these other lineman have popped up, they re-evaluated Shaw and thought they should look elsewhere and have not pursued him any further.

If next year is as strong as we think it is academically in state, does that mean we will be more likely to have early enrollees? If so, if we were to take 20 this year, we could have up to 5 early enrollees count towards this current class next year, correct? So leaving us the possibility of taking 30 recruits next year?

Now you're just getting silly
