Seems to have quieted down a little bit. When can we expect the next batch of good news? AJ Jenkins still planning on announcing this week? How did his visit to FNL at UF go? Read something on scout I think talking about how much he really liked it...They sway him at all?

Any tidbits would be appreciated :)

I'm a little worried about A. J. Florida blew in his ear and he seems to have liked it a lot. Hopefully, however, he will see the light and become a Jacket. He will be a whole lot more appreciated and utilized at Tech than he would be at Florida.

I never understood the confidence that so many folks had in this kid (given the standard ContactBuzz cavaet - "I'm no insider"). OK, so he enjoyed his trip to GT and allegedly said "GT is the place for me" (paraphrased from what's been posted on the boards). But follows it up with "I'm going to take my visit to defending national champion UF...as a courtesy" (again, paraphrased).

He's 17 or 18 years old. Let's wait until he has seen everything he's going to see and then let's get excited if GT is still the place for him after he's taken all of his visits.

We are not far off.
We had 10 at this time last year....and we have 8 this year. You could say we have 9 this year if you include Tyler Melton (and 9 last year if you took him out) since he is not starting his scholarship until January.
Last year we had 11 as of August 30.

I will stop short of a full guarantee we will be well past 11 by August 30...probably into the teens (13 or more).

It is still very possible that we could get two or three more by the end of this month:

A.J. Jenkins - Sources say that he is still 100% Jacket.

Omoregie Uzzi - Getting close...Not sure what his visits situation looks like, but I think that he will be a Jacket and soon. I heard that he will be on campus this week...:fingersx:

Jon Lockhart - Haven't heard how his Vandy visit went. However, I think that he too will be a Jacket and soon.

How are we looking with some of the local kids - Cooper Taylor, Roark, Thomas?

Cooper Taylor - I honestly have no clue which way Cooper is leaning. It is supposed to be between Tech and UVA. Wants to be pre-med in college and feels that UVA may be the best place for that. Maybe he should talk to my brother, who majored in Biology at Tech and will be going to Emory or Mercer next year. Nontheless, I have not seen, heard, or read anything on him in quite a while...I wouldn't be surprised to see him in White and Gold, but I am not holding my breath.

Matt Roark - I really like this kid. We were the first to offer Matt and I have the feeling that Tech holds a special place in his heart. However, his decision may come down to what position he wants to play in college. Some (Kentucky) want him to play QB, while others (Wake) want him at WR. Tech is recruting him as an athlete, but at 6'6" I am thinking WR or maybe a high safety, if he can tackle. He currently list Tech, Kentucky, and Wake as his favorites. However, he does have family ties to Kentucky.

Chase Thomas - Since Chase's return visit to campus last week, things have certainly heated up with him. He has named Tech and Auburn as the clear favorites with a good chance for LSU and maybe an outside chance for Tennessee, who recently offered. With the committments from Sylvester and Machen and offers still out to the likes of Sabino, Munroe, Pridemore, and Stuckey...It will be interesting to see who pulls the trigger first.

I Predict

I predict we get 4 of the 6 we've discussed, and that is fine with me.
