Do not be surprised if you see a handful...less than 5...new offers come out in the coming weeks as the high school senior seasons wrap up and senior film is evaluated.
 
Tackle, Guard, Center, Guard, & Tackle.

Or so I hope.

Tech still in the mix for Thompson; Jackets to offer Bass?

Thomasville’s Brandon Thompson, considered the fourth-best defensive tackle in the nation by Scout.com, continues to show strong interest in five programs.
“I feel good about all the schools,” said Thompson, who is considering scholarship offers from Clemson, Georgia Tech, LSU, Ohio State and Tennessee.
The 6-foot-2, 295-pound Thompson plans to travel to Clemson on Saturday when the Tigers host Boston College.
Thompson, who visited Tech earlier this year, said he’d enjoy the opportunity to play for Jackets coach Chan Gailey.
“I’d love to play for him,” Thompson said. “He’s a real nice guy.”
Thompson, who visited Ohio State during the first weekend of Nov., didn’t appear stunned after learning that the Buckeyes lost in Columbus on Saturday to Illinois.
“Any team can lose,” he said. “I guess it was just their time to lose.”
After admitting that he’s confided in very few people over where he will play college football, Thompson refused to set a timetable on when he might commit.
He did rule out delaying his decision until signing day in February.
“Oh, it won’t be that long,” he said.

Tyler Bass:
6-foot-4, 218-pound could be on the verge of receiving an offer from Georgia Tech.
“I just got an e-mail from [Georgia Tech recruiting coordinator] coach [Giff] Smith,” Bass said. “He wants me to contact him.”
Bass hinted that he might pull the trigger on a commitment to Tech, if the Jackets offer.
“Georgia Tech is a very good school academically,” Bass said. “And the thing that will weigh on my college degree is the name of the school on the diploma.
“I know a degree from Georgia Tech carries a lot of weight, not only in the United States, but around the world.
“And they have a great football team. I’ve been going to games there since I was young.”

Primary focus for the balance is TE, OL, and DL...may add another athlete or two at CB, WR, or general ATH.

The uncertainty is definitely hurting right now in a big way. In years past you would be ok as much of recruiting came down to January...so "all of the votes" so to speak were in. However, with most of these kids wanting decision by the first week of December....we are in a tough spot.

We need two win's...thats the best medicine for this situation that we are in.
 
Personally, as things are right now, I wish we had worked harder to get another quarterback too. No offense to young Mr. Nesbitt, but the jury is still out on his future at QB and that leaves us one injury to Renfree away from being totally void in another year.

We had him in Threet but he got schoolkid girl-crazy on us. That shows you how young these players really are...heck he transferred to UM with Ryan Mallet already there. Steven really killed us....because had he worked out Josh Nesbitt could have teamed with Morgan Burnett at safety next year...or played WR this year freeing Donley to go defense. This does not mean Josh will not be a good QB...just that he could contribute in several areas.

We have Sean Renfree coming in and he may not redshirt...and we have Drew Little coming the following year (trust me on this one).

Between this and next years class we will find a third QB to come in just as you wish. We are evaluating senior and junior films now at QB
 
It wouldn't hurt my feelings if we found ourselves a (JC?) transfer at QB this year. Personally, watching Nesbitt's mechanics suggests to me that he should have been a safety or a running back. But a lot can happen between a player's first and second season.

Regardless, we need another mature body after next season at QB. Relying on freshman in the two deep for the next four years will hurt us I'm afraid.

I can say this. If I was Threet and I saw the absolute cannon arm that Maillet showed the other day, I'd be considering a transfer back to Atlanta.

Man, we just can't seem to get ahead at QB recently.
 
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Throwing JN under the bus based on what you've seen thus far is ridiculous. He hasn't been given much of an opportunity to prove himself.

I agree...you cannot say at this point whether he will be or will not be a good QB. One thing is for certain....he should be big-time somewhere on the field.
 
I fear JN's deficiencies will be in the same area as Bilbo's.

JN is an absolute wonderful looking athlete. He is twice the athlete that Laron Landry was.

I am just saying however that his throwing mechanics are nothing compared to quality young arms that you see at football powers. He may turn it on over the offseason but so far I just don't see a throwing quarterback at all. Every pass is lazy and loopey, nothing is crisp and firm.

He doesn't seem to lack understanding like a Bilbo, he just so far has not demonstrated good throwing skills to me. I'm very hopeful that he turns it on and proves me wrong.

Regarding future recruting, even if Nesbitt became a star, we'd still only have Renfree and Little in a couple of years and both would be very young. I think most programs have a couple of other "bodies" in there just in case.

I said that relying on youngsters to fill the two deep is a problem. At least half just don't pan out and at least a quarter get hurt. We could use some more bodies at QB even if JN is the starter.

And if by chance he moves, then we'd be praying for one guy to be a player AND never get hurt. That kind of decision making does not guarantee success.
 
Why? In the little playing time he's had he's already shown me more field awareness than Bilbo ever did.

Go back and look at Bilbo's game vs Wake Forest.

Bilbo's problems weren't field awareness. They were in screwing up the plays, because he transposed numbers in the play calls, and in not being able to learn the entire playbook from a QB's perspective. For Nesbitt, we may have to dramatically simplify our play book to work. Which, IMO wouldn't be a bad thing, necessarily, if the plays are harder to defend.

Exactly! He is still running the same"package" now as he was 9 games ago. Our QB's never progress under CG, it is his ball and chain.
 
What I'm not clear on is why we've reduced the playbook, whether it's Nesbitt or Gailey's belief that either a freshman can't handle it all or an idea that we want him running a different package for a change of pace. To me it doesn't look like we've limited him, it's more like he has a completely different offense to run.

That is certainly how it appears.
 
Watched JN in warmups, and he seemed to have every bit the arm that TB or CB have. NOt sure what happens once the game starts, but give him time, he's the best athlete we've probably ever had at QB, including saint Joe.
 
What is it you want Nesbitt to do in the games since he's not allowed to throw much and, in the Duke game at least, no one was open?
