\"Red\" Barron, Tech Related Article

Interesting article in AJC last Sunday on former Tech legend Red Barron. He played for Coach Heisman and Coach Alexander in 1918-1921 and held seveal records. I didn't realize he was a northeast Georgia native until I read this article. Not everything in his life went smoothly but it seems he redeemed some errors toward the end.

Red Baron was a very good friend of my grandfather, and when he heard I was going to Tech he had me over to his house for Cokes and showed me his Tech memorbilia, including his yearbooks - his picture was on just about every page - definately a big man on campus!

There were whispers in my family about what he had done, but in the late 50s and early 60s you just didn't say much about that kind of thing. My grandfather would only say that Red Baron was a good man, and that's plenty good enough for me.
