Reggie Ball WR. NFL Draft.

I'm happy for RB that he got invited to the combine, I hope he does well. Who knows? Maybe he'll be the next Hines Ward or something like that. Seems like an awful big crapshoot, though. Don't think anyone would use a draft pick higher than say 6th round. He is athletic, but he's short, especially for a wide receiver. What is his 40 time? Or vertical? Those raw stats are pretty important to the NFL scouts.
I honestly could see him as more of a corner, or maybe free safety. He's got fire, no doubt about that, good for playing defense, usually a detriment at qb. Possibly he could be a slot receiver.

He also gets hurt too easily. He's too short for WR but he's got plenty of experience as a half-back.

He could have a lot of speed off the line that we don't see with him scrambling. His Scout combine time was surprisingly low when I saw it.

How many games did he miss due to injury?

The abuse a QB takes is much greater than what a WR gets over the course of the season.

Not a single one; however, he should have missed a few. Remember seeing him hobble for several games after the Clemson debacle? When he wasn't at full strength, he might as well have been on the sideline. I'll take a healthy Reggie any day (yes I did just say that), but he plays scared when he's dinged up.

I was referring more to the RB position. That abuse is comparable depending on your line. I do agree that standing in the pocket taking a shot to the back is much worse than anything a WR or RB sees. I took my fair share in high school.

I'd call one injury over four years pretty good.

BTW, the average career of a running back in the NFL is three years long. I can't think of any position in any sport that takes more abuse.

He was hobbled late last year as well. It's not just THAT he was injured but how he played during his injury. I think I mistakenly turned this thread into something it wasn't meant to be. My intentions weren't to be negative towards Reggie. I was seriously suggesting the RB position for him.

On the second coomment - Three years? Where did that stat come from? I would expect that to be rather low. Five maybe four years would be my guess.

Florida Jacket is right, the average is a little less than 3 years actually. for linemen it's a little more than 3 years. You would be surprised at the longevity.
