Reggie for Heisman!!!

[ QUOTE ]
Is it coaching, is it the line play, is it him, or is is it a combination of the 3? In either case for 3 years now we've heard that the kid is improving in this, or that, or the other, but it has not shown on the field.

It's probably a combination of all three. I think RB showed considerable improvement last year, especially by not taking sacks. That was largely due to him being coached to make the decision to throw the ball away rather than take a sack and directly led to his low completion ratio.

However, this points to deficiencies in the oline last year...RB was under pressure a lot which forced him to throw the ball away.

It's unfortunate that Reggie's stats didn't show improvement along with his play, but if he makes just another slight improvement this year, along with what is almost certain to be improved line play we'll all be very happy come next November. Excepting a few fonts over on that other board.

Our QB, as I have said many times gets happy feet which results in what appears to be bad line play. As NCJ said he often runs when he needs to stay put.

Reggie is an athletic mobile QB, forcing him to sit around in the pocket takes away his most important asset. If he played in a system that was suited to his skills he would be one of the most exciting players in football and he would be a legitimate Heisman candidate.

Question- How good would Vince Young or Brad Smith have been playing in our offense the last couple of years?

There is nothing wrong with critiquing a player's performance on a board like this. But, while acknowledging RB's mistakes on the field and that his career to date has not matched the promise we hoped for after the Freshman upset of Auburn, here is where we are.

Reggie Ball is going to be a four year starter at QB. Others have had their chance to show their talent surpasses his and failed to supplant him. Reggie Ball is our best option at QB, and has been, 2003-2006.

I think fans should be positive about this young man during his senior year. He has given us four years. He has worked hard. When my son was at Chan's camp in July the weight room stats indicate he is a strong, hard working young man. I am sure some players like him, some don't. But, I think overall he has good support from his teammates.

I hope we rally around Reggie his senior year. He deserves the affirmation of his school's fans.

ACCs number 1 Offense, BC, was 51rst in the Nation.

Of the first 24 Defenders taken in the NFL draft in 2006:
ACC 13
Big Ten 5
SEC 4
Big 12 1
PAC 10 1
All other 60 D1 teams 0

This, along with a new O Line in '05 ... I'd throw the ball off of any foot I could.
