I have read a couple articles: AJC & Macontelegraph
stating that Reggie is "snap to snap". How bad will he have to get before they pull him? We all watched him limp through Clemson game & it contributed to us never finding our rhythm which was frustrating to say the least....If he can't make produce & make the plays I hope the coaching staff will make a decision early enough prior to the game getting out of control....I wish Reggie the best however, I just don't
want to see GT live/die by one quarter back...
I hope the worst of his injury is behind him although, these articles make it sound like he is still suffering....

HOW BAD WILL BALL HAVE TO PLAY TO BE PULLED?

From what I've read CG is going with RB all the way. I take this as a lack of confidence in TB. He certainly hasn't given Bennett many opportunities at 'quality' playing time this year, and by that I mean TB has just not been given the opportunity to operate with full arsenal, usually just going in to hand off and run out the game and not being allowed to incorporate much of a passing game into his playing time.

All this being said, I certainly hope it is a moot point. Reggie is the guy and for GT to defeat UM he needs to be on his game. I hope he's healed up some this week, I doubt he will be 100% though.

Well, the coaches know a helluva lot more than we know. We haven't seen Bennett practicing for two and a half years and we haven't seen how Ball's recovered. He was supposedly fully recovered within a week of the Maryland game and he looked fine on the first drive against Clemson until he got that hard hit.

We'll see what happens on the field.

Looks like several QB transfer possibilities on the horizon based on obvious lack of confidence in Taylor and incoming talent.

I have no problem with R.B. as starting Q.B if he is healthy. He was not healthy the Clumpson game second half. He lost his effectiveness in the second half ...he should have been pulled for T. Bennett.

It appears our coaches are hard headed enough to stay with the same game plan.

or maybe a hurt RB is better than a healthy TB. None of us know the answer to that.

We have had major QB recruiting and/or development problems and they are once again coming to a head.

Regarding last Saturday night second half.......................I have a hard time swallowing that pill.

If I was Miami I would blitz Reggie all day long. He may beat ya on a throw or two but I would be willing to bet he tucks it and takes off. If Reggie starts running when they start blitzing, let me assure you Miami will have more points in their column than we will at the end of the day.

i don't see how anyone, even the coaches, could really know how good TB considering he's never been given a real chance. If Ball is still hurting and plays like he did last week, I'd find it very hard to believe that TB would play any worse if given that chance.

Brilliant !

You must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night !

I absolutely agree. I cannot imagine what the coaches were thinking last week cause it sure didn't compute.

Exactly. There was a long stretch of time when Reggie wouldn't even throw the ball downfield. Yes, throwing the ball into coverage can lead to interceptions. Running the ball out of bounds on 3rd and long over and over again will never lead to any points, but throwing the ball up to the best receiver in the country who is taller than any of the guys guarding him just might. Honestly, when you're down 10-0 or 17-0 in the second half it's pretty clear that you need points and you have to take risks.

If TB had been in the game, I do believe that he would have looked for Calvin more than Reggie did. When you have a receiver like the one we have, and your QB won't get him the ball and you're already getting dominated, why not give the backup a CHANCE?

Reggie Ball was appointed QB for life back in 2003. It's like a supreme court thing.

In 2003, in the landmark Supreme Court case, Ball v. Georgia Tech, it was the ruling of the court in an 8-1 decision, that it was unconstitutional to not play Reggie at least 3 and 1/2 quarters.

Majority Opinion: Rehnquist

Concurring: Thomas, Scalia, Souter, Ginsberg, O'Connor, Kennedy, Stevens

Dissenting: Breyer

FWIW, he did get one chance last year, and he threw 40% completions vs UCONN.

Just saying ... the coaches might be right. I wanted Bennett during the 2nd half of Clemson too. But they might have been right to leave Ball in.

Bennett was also 7-13 against Samford. Not sure what happened on the six incompletions, but I do remember a couple of throws quite off the mark as well as some that looked pretty good.

Knox is right. The QB problem is a recrootin problem, first and foremost. We're expecting the production of 4/5 star QBs out of 3 star QBs. At least Reggie has the threat of running to make LBs think twice before dropping back in coverage or blitzing.

Here's to hoping that Reggie is healthy for today and hopefully this thread will be for naught.

Dateline 10/1/07: Atlanta(AP)-Coach Chan Gailey continued to baffle college football analysts and infuriate the Yellow Jacket faithful by insisting on starting an injured- and ineligible- Reggie Ball at Quarterback for the 4th consecutive week. As a result the Yellow Jackets had to forfeit their fourth game of the year to Virginia Tech.

Gailey insisted, "Reggie is the only QB I've got who has done much of anything the last 5 years. Noone else has played enough downs for me to feel comfortable so I am gonna stick with Reggie as long as he comes to practice. Reggie is just awesome at practice even when scrimmaging with crutches."

Gailey pointed out that Ball is just a Junior academically so he really deserves to play despite those picky NCAA rules limiting eligibility. Gailey also shrugs and insists that he has no one else to play now that all other quarterbacks, including incoming blue-chippers Nesbitt and Threat have transferred ....
