As we celebrate Thanksgiving with our family and friends today, many of us will remember the Tech-Georgia Freshman game that was played every year on Thanksgiving Day at Grant Field that helped to benefit Scottish Rite Children's hospital in Atlanta. It was played every year until the early 1990's because of NCAA limitations.

some of the on field fights were epic. in the later years of the game, i remember that a general call for students to suit up to bust heads with dwags

I guess these were my first GT games come to think of it. Used to go with my dad every year

Loved going to this game several times with my family. Whenever a player Dad had coached was in the game we went to see them play.

yep, I probably went to ten or 12 with my dad in the 1950's and 60's. Strong legs run so that weak legs may walk.

Every star player recruited by Tech or Georgia was in this game for many, many years. They toured the hospital, interacted with the kids. It was a really good charity event, and damn good football, too.

No way that happens anymore. Can’t risk that NFL stock on some meaningless game that doesn’t pad Hesiman stats!
