Lugenbill was a transfer in (from JC). Got off to a horrible start in '94 & yet the BL coaching staff did not start Donnie Davis AT ALL. The team splintered. The season was a disaster, 1-10, BL & staff were fired & when Davis won the QB job in Spring, before '95 season, Lugenbill left the program.
If Davis is given a chance in '94 we may have won more than 1 gm & '95 may have even been better than 6-5. Just an eerily similar situation

Ace, the only similarity is we have a QB controversy. I haven't heard anything about the team splitting apart like the did under BL. Am I missing something? Everything from the players so far, including Bilbo, has been positive and all about coming together as a team. Where is your evidence that the team thinks Bilbo should start? If you are right, we could have issues. If they don't then this is just fans stirring things up.

DID NOT say this team has ANY issues with QB. The '94 team DID & it's well documented that they split over who should have a chance.
All I'm saying now is that Bilbo should be given a look-see at starting to take the pressure off. Suggs could come in for 2nd half (or qtr) if Bilbo can't move team. If Bilbo is not given a chance & QB play is poor again, then there may be deep problems.
But let me say this, about ONE more blown game where the team members put us into a chance to win or tie on last drive & the QB comes up way short & actually hurts us from tying & there WILL BE quite a controversy over who should be given a chance. This may lead to the team going dramatically down hill.

I do agree that QB play has been a problem, but not the only one. IMO we never should have been in the position to need a comeback on Sat. The D couldn't make a stop when they needed to and penalties at crucial moments killed us on offense all day. Yes, continued problems at QB could cause problems on the team but I don't think any other players have much room to talk this week.

Nc Jacket did you see the Southern Sports Report
Sat. evening when AJ was blaming his receivers for dropping passes? Finger pointing is the first
sign that there is unrest on the team. Conversely,
young Bilbo was gracious and supportive of his teammates and his coaches as well. There is something very wrong with this team starting with the coaches. When the coaching situation is corrected then I am confident that the other issues will correct themselves. This team hasn't been prepared for any game this year. It didn't show as much in our first two games because of the
calibre of our opponents but this staff hasn't made game time adjustments at all. AJ would be well advised to keep his mouth shut if he is unable to be gracious to his teammates because this will divide this team and we will all be losers. AJ has convinced me that he is not a 1A
college QB. I hope I am wrong but I don't think so.

Big Buck, no I didn't see the interview. The way you describe it I agree completely. Personally I would like to see DeBo get much more of the playing time. He may make mistakes but to me he seems like more of a leader. I'm just worried that we could screw his head up if he really isn't ready for prime time. Although we may be reaching the point where that doesn't matter.
