I would like to see the StinGTalk administrators create a poll to gauge current support for Coach Gailey. This poll should be of a thumbs up/thumbs down nature (no boxes for wait till next year, or wait till after recruiting). I requested this poll after the Wake game, but was denied. Please allow the members of StinGTalk to have a say in a formal poll at this time.

Go for it... I will vote.... but I would send to to Clough as well.
 
Here is my vote:

1. Dave Braine should be fired immediately.

2. Chan Gailey should resign immediately.

3. Anyone that had anything to do with the selection of Chan Gailey as head coach should be disqualified from participating in the hiring of the next head coach.

4. Hire George O'leary back.....OR.... be certain to hire someone equal to or better than him. It would be stupid to hire another coach less than him since he is available.

The one bright thing is that whoever gets hired would be better than Chan Gailey because it would be virtually impossible to hire a worse Division 1 college coach than Chan has proven to be.
 
beeware, obviously you don't remember the same uninspired play in last year's Ugag game. GOL was not a motivator. Then there is this business of a resume............. Hire GOL back. I think not.

You are right about Braine but not about Gailey. He must be fired. He doesn’t have the guts to resign.
 
Suggesting we hire GOL back is insulting...it was obvious he didnt want to be here before, what makes you think he'll stay this time

Firing Chan Gailey now, after 1 season, would be more disastrous to the long term health of this progam than us going 4-7 next year...

What your doing by firing Gailey now is sending a message to all the high school kids...."We wont tolerate 1 mediocre season...If our coach has one he wont be here next year...As a matter of fact the coach we bring in next may not be here more than 2 years either"

NO KID WOULD COME HERE UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES...90% OF THE GREAT FOOTBALL PLAYERS CHOOSE THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM BECAUSE OF THE COACH...IF OUR COACH IS CONSTANTLY IN DANGER OF LOSING HIS JOB OVER 1 BAD SEASON THAN OUR RECRUITING WOULD BE 5X WORSE THAN IT IS NOW

Firing a coach after one season is never, of course, a good thing for any program. It would, however, send a clear message to all concerned that excellence is expected, and poor management and coaching will not be tolerated. Would we fire a coach after one year if he was found stealing from the AA? Would we fire a coach if he was found breaking NCAA rules after one year?

Why should we wait until we are in last place in the ACC with Duke due to very poor recruiting, management, and coaching? The UGA embarrassment alone, has done untold damage to our program. We are currently a JOKE program, unable to gain respect and trust during the most important period- recruiting. Hasn't more damage been done by this coach in one year, than another coach who might be caught stealing, having an affair, or breaking rules?

The sooner Gailey goes, the better for both Gailey and Ga. Tech. "Time" in this matter, only buys us more problems.

Well... has anyone sent those letters or made those calls? I have... writing the same stuff over and over on a message board is an exercise in futility if you ask me...

Tell the guys in charge what you think!
 
I to agree that this would be a good poll. Just to see where 600 stingtalkers are in their thought process. Lets do it!!

However, I would give it a little more choice:

1)Fire CG now
2)Give him 1 more year on notice
3)Leave CG alone, its way to early
 
While the poll will obviously show an overwhelming majority of opinion against Gailey, what good will that do?

No, I am not talking about effecting recruiting, toeing the company line, etc. A much, much more effective thing to do would be to voice displeasure to those that can do something about it. An organized letter campaign to Braine or even better, his boss, Dr. Clough would be a much more effective use of time and could result in somethings being done. People bitching on an internet board (and I'm including myself in that group) will accomplish nothing.
 
What good will such a poll do? Make some people feel better?? Generate additional threads for discussion?

Why not just call Gailey personally? Call Braine personally... call Clough or write them all letters (I mailed my letters to each of them this morning !!)
