First of all, I'm fairly pleased with how the Gailey staff is working. Folks, with all the injuries we've had (injuries to our best players) and guys leaving the program, 4-2 is pretty good. Do I want 6-0 or 5-1? Hell yes. But given the losses we've had with Hollings and Gathers, I can live with 4-2. What do you think UGA's record would be if they had season-ending injuries to Musa Smith and David Pollack? They damn sure wouldn't be 5-0. I'm not using injuries as an excuse, but outside of Daryl Smith, Gathers and Hollings were our best players.

Right now, I'd say our defense has played very well except for the Wake game. Last year, when Tenuta was at UNC, they had trouble stopping Wake. This year, we also had trouble. Tenuta's D seems to have trouble with the assignment football that it takes to defend the option. Outside of that game, I'm very pleased with the D. They really get after it. You have to keep in mind that we have a very pedestrian defensive line without Gathers. We have to rely on our LBs to make alot of plays.

If Hollings wasn't injured, we'd be 5-1 right now. There's no way Wake could have stopped him. Our offense will really struggle without him UNTIL one of the QBs really steps up and takes control of the situation. I guess the coaches know better than I who needs to play at this position. Anyway, without a serious running threat, we're gonna have trouble scoring this year. We've been spoiled since '97 with our QBs and our offense in general. It's hard to watch a Tech offense that has so much trouble scoring.

We're at the halfway point of the season. All games from here on out will be tough. But I don't see anyone on the schedule that we can't beat.

We have a tough Maryland team on the road next Thursday. Let's hope that's the beginning of an offensive turnaround. If not, let's hope that Tenuta has the defense ready.

Wake doesn't run a traditional option. It is run either from the wishbone or <gasp> the shotgun. Maryland on the other hand runs a traditional Power Option which we should be better suited to defend.

Frankly I don't thin Tenuta has ever played nor has he coached against enough teams that run the option or the wishbone. I am sure the Fridge will add a few wrinkles to his gameplan for this week.

Lots of people including GT had a hard time stoping Wake last year. Wasn't just Tenuta's defense at UNC and this year at GT. I'm not giving excuses. We got beat. I give Wake a lot of credit myself.
