Chris Demino on 790 (our so called radio station) was urging the Dawgs AD to give Mark Richt a raise today. He said that right now the falcons could come in and offer can't refuse money. 5-6 million a year.

Now, after the Petrino incident I would be willing to bet they wont seek a coach in college. But, the more the guys name gets mentioned the chances are another franchise might make him an offer he cant refuse.

Don't think that will be happening. this may be the lowest Atlanta's franchise has EVER been. They will get a proven NFL success.......Cower or Shotty.

Pipe Dream, why would Richt become part of that Rag Tag outfit.

I wouldn't want the Falcons job if I already had one.

Maybe it's time to show McKay the door and start ALL over.

Richt has zero NFL experience, not as a player or a coach. There is no chance the Falcons or anyone else in the NFL would hire him.

I don't think he is going anywhere pro or otherwise. But, I just can hear the crying now if it was to happen.

As a falcons fan I would like Cowher. Just thought I would post a quote from the radio.

Jimmy Johnson
Bill Walsh

uh one is dead.

the other I doubt would come back to a org in shambles like atlanta

I think we can rule out JJ, Cowher, Parcells, etc...some of those guys just aren't going to come to aTL IMO.

I knew I was forgetting someone obvious like Jimmy Johnson. I was too focused on the failures like Spurrier.

Unless Switzer had a time in the pros other than the Cowboys, he was far from a success.

Didn't mean to imply we should hire them - the question was have there been coaches that made the transition from college to pro successfully.

Those are the best examples I know. Unless you want to go back to Paul Brown. And yes, I know, he's dead too.

I don't think that Falcons will be able to get a good experienced NFL HC. Who would want to take over a team that will be playing at 85% of the salary cap for the next 3 years at least. Hiring Richt might be good for ticket sales in the interim and he might want the opportunity for the experience and money.

I *think*, although I'm not positive, that the Falcons will be up to 100% of the cap next year, as part of the agreement between Blank and Goeddel.

Blank just needs to sit tight and wait to see what else happens after the season. There's chance John Fox may be let go by Carolina and even with the problems they're having this year I think he's a very solid coach who could do a great job in ATL.
