Richt whining...

don't understand why people are making such a big deal about this...seems like a tongue-in-cheek comment to me.

I guess Richt doesnt realize that PJ Daniels did pretty much exactly that against Clemson - a much higher level of defenders - a few years ago...

It's funny because that play should have been a penalty, should it not have been? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAChvvvwPnc

I thought hurdling was a penalty as well.

http://www.football.com/rulesabc/misc.html#Penalties in College Football

Loss of Fifteen Yards occurs when:
  • There is an ineligible receiver down the field
  • There is an interference with the opportunity to catch a kick
  • The ball is illegally batted in a forward pass
  • There is an offensive pass interference(plus loss of down)
  • There is illegal equipment used
  • Players communicating with the coach during an illegal time
  • There is an invalid signal for a fair catch
  • A team is not ready to play at the start of either half
  • A fair catcher is blocked or tackled
  • Helmets butt
  • The kicker or holder is roughed
  • Tripping occurs
  • Blocking occurs below the waist
  • Kneeing someone/striking with an open hand
  • Hurdling occurs
  • Piling occurs
  • A player grabs the facemask of his opponent
  • A substitution interference occurs
  • There is a use of abusive/insulting language
  • There are persons illegally on the field
  • A player not returning the ball to the official after the end of a play
  • The defensive makes insulting gestures
  • The ball is illegally kicked by any side
  • A foul occurs before a free kick or a scrimmage kick is touched
  • The ball is returned by a disqualified player
  • The ball is hidden
  • There are other people besides the players on the field
  • Illegal use of arms and hands by either sides
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct
(emphasis added by me)

I saw hurdling by a TE in a game two weeks ago, they weren't penalized for it. Maybe it's a rule not really followed unless it clearly harms a defender.

I'm pretty sure just no one enforces it. Which is kind of ironic given the recent UDub situation.

Find me this on youtube, please. PLEASE.

man y'all will bash anything :laugher:

that play was nothing short of awesome and it definitely should have been run on the highlight shows that night

Regardless, who the hell cares what's on ESPN? Richt you coach, and let the sportscasters do their job!

What would PJ say?

Navy QB Brian Broadwater pulled this move on us back in 2000. I don't really see anything so epic about it.

I think hurdling penalty is only enforced when when a defender hurdles at the line of scrimmage. Ive seen it called on a field goal attempt before.

Richt wasn't whining about it at all. Have you heard the audio of the press conference? A reporter asked him a question about it and Richt had some fun with it.

Of course its a penalty, but haven't you heard... UGAg cheats coming and going and they brag about it. Now Richt has joined the act.

That's your opinion. I clearly heard him say lipstick and I strongly knew what he meant.
