RIP Miami

Who is John Ruiz? Appears to be the big $$$ behind UM NIL. He's a big reason behind the Miami's Final 4 run last year.

We'll see if anything comes of the investigations but it would seem that his NIL donations, and all the deals his companies made with players, would at the very least be in jeopardy. Don't know how many football players had NIL contracts with his companies. Potentially a VERY big mess for UM.

The pandora's box of NIL.

UGAg would literally have broke ass sidewalk fans pawning the 2010 Camaro if it meant paying the NILs, winning a natty, and getting another natty shirt from the Pendergrass flea market.
Meanwhile we have pretentious douchebags who pride themselves in not going to games or spending money and then bitching about the football program sucking dick. I’d take some “broke ass sidewalk fans pawning 2010 Camaros” to convert to Tech fandom in a heartbeat.

This is a man who gets it!

Can you tell me more about the Camaro? I may be interested.

And many of them post on this board.

But yeah, it would be great for the program if there were a broader swath of fans that support the program and want it to do better instead of taking a "wait and see" attitude or "maybe I'll buy a ticket (for a discount of course) if they start winning."

Sooo... if this Ruiz fella is found guilty in some fashion and these funds he made available to UM student athletes are determined to be ill gotten, there are a host of questions that come into focus:
1) Do UM student athletes have exposure to claw backs of these funds received through Ruiz? Other legal or civil culpability?
2) Does UM have NCAA culpability for not performing due diligence of these ill gotten funds thus leading to program sanctions and forfeitures of wins?
3) Do any other donations to the school have to be repaid plus penalties? How much has already been committed, collected and paid out? Over how many years?
4) Does UM, administrators and staff have any additional legal culpability in any of these dealings with Ruiz?

If these investigations leads to charges and convictions for Ruiz, UM is going to have much bigger problems than just the loss of him making future and promised contributions. This is even before any potential civil actions by others effected.

If I were a prospective student athlete considering UM or a current one having already received funds, these are questions I would want to know some answers to.
