1. Jahvid Best, California (5-10/195, junior)
BUZZ: Best was third nationally in rushing last season, at 131.7 yards per game. He rushed for 15 touchdowns and averaged 8.1 yards per carry.



2. Jonathan Dwyer, Georgia Tech (6-0/235, junior)
BUZZ: He's a great fit for Paul Johnson's triple-option offense. Dwyer ran for 1,395 yards last season in his first year in the scheme.

6. C.J. Spiller, Clemson (5-11/195, senior)
BUZZ: Spiller never has rushed for 1,000 yards and his rushing total has gone down from each preceding season, from 938 as a freshman to 768 as a sophomore and 629 last season. But with the job all his, expect a big season.
 
My one beef with the attention to Best is that they talk so much about how well he did in the last games of the season without mentioning that two of them weren't bowl eligible (one was winless Washington) and Miami (who's run defense was so impressive at the end of the season....)

Not saying Best isn't a great running back, but its kind of like how before the Rose bowl so many people were talking about USC's shutouts and such without mentioning they were against the Washington pair.

I can see him taken above Dwyer in the draft mostly because he'll have weaker defense to show off against.
 
Can't argue with that. I bet he's the first back taken in next season's draft though.
 
You can't throw out Best's performance vs Miami and keep Dwyer's performance vs Miami.

I think it's not unreasonable to see Best at #1.
 
Best is a beast. Dwyer is a beast. Someone has to be ranked #1 and someone has to be ranked #2. Based on the few times I've seen him play, I don't see any problem ranking Best #1 ahead of Dwyer. These two guys are really 1a and 1b...

Jonathan Dwyer is a horse,reminds Me a whole lot of former Tennessee RB Jamal Lewis. I think Dwyer is faster that Lewis was though.

It's easy to compare Dwyer and Spiller because they play the same teams all year, but when you throw Best into the equation it's impossible. It's like Rivals or Scout attempting to compare a high school RB in Kansas with a RB in New York. It's plain silly non-sense.

Neither do I and I'll concede your point with Miami. My problem is nothing to do with Best but with all these damn media people talking about his amazing games at the end of the season without mentioning it was against Stanford and the Winless Wonders of Washington.
 
I think Dwyer will be the better pro back. Best looks like a wide receiver. I could see him used like an Antwan Randle-El.

I would expect Dwyer to be taken first because Best has been really injury prone.

Dwyer only played the first half of the Miami game.

Dwyer's Line:
10 carries 128 yards 12.8 avg 2 TDs Long carry: 58 yards

Best's Line:
20 carries 186 yards 9.3 avg 2 TDs Long carry: 42 yards
