Marve started 11 of 13 games this season for the Hurricanes, but also served a pair of suspensions in unrelated incidents, including one that kept him out of the Emerald Bowl.
"I had to get out," Marve told the AP from his family's home in Tampa. "I just decided that I can't play for Coach Shannon."
What a sense of entitlement. He started most of the year over a guy who outplayed him, got suspended twice, and now that he'll have to compete for the job he's out. And if he's leaving because Nix is gone... well that just's an interesting choice on which star you're tying your fortunes to.

He's a great QB though. That pass he threw to Michael Johnson was a thing of beauty.

I don't know anything about the kid's character, and there are certainly signs that it may be questionable in some regards. But, watching him this year made me think that he'd be perfect for this offense. I really think he's the outright fastest QB in the ACC, definitely faster than Harris, and but it would be close with Nesbitt and the VT QB. He's got good athleticism and serious wheels and is a better QB (re: passer) than he was able to show in Miami's offense this year. He was a very highly rated recruit.

I read where he was suspended for missing a class even though he was actually only 15 minutes late to the class. Who knows?

I had the same thought re: nice applicability to our offense, the speed & arm combination would make for a nice fit on paper... it would be interesting to see how it translates to the "getting hit a lot" aspect. too!

I't not uncommon for a players release to have "can't play there" conditions to it, such as in future games against Miami, in conference / division, etc. I'd look for him to end up @ USF or at UCF.

From HD at ESPN:

His father, Eugene, told me Randy Shannon has granted Robert's release with the following restrictions -- Robert can't transfer to any SEC, ACC or other Florida schools.

Huh wow. Smart move on Shannon's part...kick him completely out of the south.

I believe I read on a UM board somewhere that there was a limit to the number of classes a player could miss, and Marve had reached the limit, and was counted absent for being 15 minutes late to a class, which then put him over.

I believe he was suspended for the first game of the season for something small as well.

So he may not have significant character issues, but definitely may have some issues with self-disclipline.

Best of luck.

A coupla years trying to work with "the chosen one" Pat Nix would have to mess with your head.

He was coached by Nix for two years.

He's damaged beyond any hope of redemption.

Maybe he and Reggie Ball can start a support group.........:laugher:

the suspension at the beginning of the year was for being arrested for vandalism which he had to pay $100 in damages in order to get the charges dropped.
