Please tell me the Granddaddy of all bowls is not considering letting itself be violated by a bunch of buttcrack redneck asswipes because some TV company wants to make a few more bucks. There's some things you just don't do because it ain't right.

No. Unless Missouri or West Virginia loses tonight, then I think it's possible.

I talked to a UGA fan is my office about this topic last week. He said that the older fans understand the prestige of the Rose Bowl and would love to go. But the players want to party on South Beach and prefer the Orange Bowl, FWIW.

Thats a joke. Everybody with ugaG wants to go to the Rose Bowl. EVERYBODY

tru.dat

The whole South Beach thing fits the UGA cliche, but there's no doubt they want to hold the distinction of being the modern UGAg team that went to the Rose Bowl.

I hope they're given the distinction of being the team against which our 222-0 record is broken.

USC won, so they're in.

Even if OSU ends up in the title game, Illinois will be in the top 14, and the Rose will take them.

I'd say this is extremely unlikely.

I just told you what a dedicated UGA fan told me. I wasn't reporting it as my opinion. And no, he wasn't joking. And since he is good friends with their AD I didn't consider it bad info.

Sorry, I should have known how all the uga players have told the AD they want to party in South Beach. I was just giving my opinion on this dedicated fan. It just doesnt make sense is all I am saying. It is not like the players can "party." They have curfews and are watched everywhere they go.

I am not questioning you or your opinion, just the ugag fan.

Consider this...

The Rose Bowl has the first choice of BCS games to pick participating teams. They will still offer O$U, who will be #1. O$U could still take the offer and take their chances against USC and go for a co-MNC. If O$U does the smart thing and declines, there is a good chance the Rose Bowl will offer the spot to Big Ten runner-up Illinois. Make no mistake -- the Rose Bowl committee wants to keep the Big Ten/Pac 10 tradition alive, which is why they get first dibs in the selection process.

I think OSU might be contractually obligated to play in the BCS Championship game. Maybe.

sad truth is that Ugag will go to a bcs bowl, regardless...maybe the Rose, maybe the national championship, maybe the orange.. their worst case scenario is something we can only dream about.

meanwhile, we don't even know who our coach will be and we may be playing on blue astroturf in frozen weather in yet, another, meaningless bowl.

STFU. I thought your trolling would end after the firing, but I was sorely mistaken.

If UGA gets called to the Rose, so be it. I for one am NOT a UGA fan, I am totally GT. But, the fact of the matter is, they whipped our butts, we knew what we had to do to keep them from doing it, we didn't do it, so be it. If and when we at GT decide we want to have any say-so as to what UGA can and deserve to go to or do, then we need to do our job and start whipping them. Until we do what we're supposed to do, the business of where they go and what they do is none of our business. Wish it were, but, it just is not to be.

Hard to argue that UGA isn't one of the best teams in the country right now. As a Tech fan, I hope they don't go to the BCS champ. but as a football fan I do, maybe it will cause enough chaos to change the stystem for the better. This could all be easily avoided w/ something like a 4 or 8-team playoff...and there is plenty of time in December to do such.

USC is probably the best team right now and in all honesty I hope they play UGAy in the Rose Bowl so I can watch the Trojans pummel those assholes back to the sh!thole where they came from.

Ummmm....that is a mistake you've made. THe Rose is the only bowl with two automatics (PAC10/Big Teneleven) but if Ohio State ends up #1, the Rose technically can't take Illinois unless the other bowl losing their automatic agrees (not that they wouldn't in this case).

3. If a bowl loses a host team to the NCG, then such bowl shall select a replacement team from among the automatic-qualifying teams and the at-large teams before any other selections are made. If two bowls lose host teams to the NCG, each bowl will get a replacement pick before any other selections are made. In such case, the bowl losing the No. 1 team gets the first replacement pick, and the bowl losing the No. 2 team gets the second replacement pick. If the Rose Bowl loses both the Big Ten and Pac-10 champions to the NCG, it will receive two replacement picks.
A bowl choosing a replacement team may not select any of the following:
A. A team in the NCG;
B. The host team for another BCS Bowl;
C. When two bowls lose host teams, then the bowl losing the number one team may not select a replacement team from the same Conference as the number two team, unless the bowl losing the number two team consents.

4. After steps No. 1, 2 and 3 have been completed, any bowl with an unfilled slot shall select a team from the automatic qualifiers and/or at-large teams in the following order:
A. The bowl played on the date nearest to the National Championship Game (for 2008, Orange Bowl) will pick first;
B. The bowl played on the date second-nearest to the National Championship Game (for 2008, Fiesta Bowl) will pick second;
C. The bowl hosting the game that is played in the time slot immediately after the Rose Bowl game (for 2008, Sugar Bowl) will pick third.

The rotation noted in paragraphs A, B and C is as follows:
January 2007 games: Sugar, Orange, Fiesta
January 2008 games: Orange, Fiesta, Sugar
January 2009 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange
January 2010 games: Orange, Fiesta, Sugar

All teams earning automatic berths must be selected.

If georgie doesn't move to 2 after the Mizzou and wvu losses last night, somebody at the switch should have never put them at 4 last week.

If Lsu moves in the spot, they should have already been positioned 1 spot ahead of them. Same goes for VT.

While it will be fun to hear them scream for the month of December, I can hardly imagine this board if we were in the same spot.

My hunch is the "computers" are fed whatever data the Wiz of the bcs wants to give them and uga will be on the outside.
A plus 1 game has to happen soon.

Clapper: but OSU will be #1, and the Rose will get first shot at replacing them. LSU is not in the Big Ten, and so the Rose will have free reign to take Illinois.
