Rumor: Texas to offer $10 Million/year to Saban

Chip Kelly is not moving from the Eagles. He has brought fresh life to a dead program. Saban isn't leaving Bama*. He's too old to revive Texas, he has built a juggernaut, and he is in the most fertile recruiting in the country. He will out do the Bear.

*unless this DJ Fluker thing goes south

Don't sleep on Chip Kelly to UTexas. Chip's O, much like Spurrier's O is already showing signs of failure in the Big Boy League. He will be clamoring for a place to run and hide back in the collegiate ranks. The high minded pink cowboys in Austin will be swept of their ponies with Chip's resume and the entertaining aspect of his offense. Thinking they can become Oregon, they will invest Millions in Chip and a designer to come up with 99 alternate uniforms for the boys to try on Saturdays.

Go Jackets!

Signs of failure? Aren't they averaging over 500 yards a game?

They're 1-1 and showing signs of being tired by the 4th quarter, but I agree it's not a failure.

lol

Lose one game (in which you score 30) and you're already showing signs of failure.

If Texas offered Nick Saban $8 million, it would take Alabama a nanosecond to match the bid and raise to $10 mil.

Chip Brown tells us potential Texas candidates if Mack Brown steps down: Will Muschamp, Gary Patterson, Charlie Strong, Kirby Smart...

It'd be all about money. Texas can pay more than Bama can.

Would they? I doubt it. But they have the ability to.

If you take this "rumor" seriously, then you should quite posting because you aren't very smart.

Texas can throw all the money at Saban that it wants to. It will have no effect.

At Alabama Saban is on his way to becoming a minor diety along the order of Bear Bryant. That will never happen at Texas. The man wants to be worshipped like a god and Bama fans will do just that. That ain't going to happen in Austin.

i said it first

I would <3 a Muschamp to Texas move. More chaos for the SEC coaching-go-round, more failure for Texas. Everybody wins!

Charlie Strong is an interesting name. His stock could be at an all-time high after this season and losing Bridgewater after this year might be the right time to ditch town. I know Louisville is paying him well, but UT has a level of prestige that Louisville could never match.

So then. Gruden to Louisville it is.

this could be an interesting scenario b/c Strong has that 'talk to you' kinda homedown feel to him when he gives press conferences which would seem to fit in with Texas where they soak up anything that is put out by the coach

Strong to Texas also allows for a bunch of name-related slogans and could be a huge PR coup for UT.

id like this idea if i was in the UT admin

Muschamp hasn't done anything at UF.. Why would Texas want him? And don't tell me it's because he was DC there.

Good illustration Dog. :) But why would Texas want Muschamp? He hasn't been much at Florida

If I was the AD at Texas, I would try to get Art Briles at Baylor. Briles has a lot of experience in the state of Texas being at Houston for a few years before going to Baylor. He has made Baylor an annual top 25 team, which is almost on par with what CPJ did at Navy. I doubt he leaves Baylor, but if he wants a challenge with unlimited resources, Texas would be the place to be.
