IMO, if Ford isn't back this week, I don't think it would be a good sign for the remainder of the year.....This is allready way too long for a "normal" concussion to take for recovery. That would be a huge blow..

Also, does anybody know GC's status ?

Does anybody have a feel for whether or not Dixon could see time at RB this week?

Does anybody have the background on Daniels ?

My brother was a RB in college, who had to have both ACL and PCL's operated upon...He was back 100%, within ~ 9 months and doing well, when, he ended up with a second injury (unrelated), but felt that with HARD work, 100% recovery should be achievable assuming this is Hollings injury (I, for one am hoping for the freak hope that its JUST a medial collateral lig., which is far better than ACL IMO....Additionally, I can't recall what Jerry Rice's injury was - but when it happened, everyone assumed it was his career, but watching him the last 2 yrs, one would never know it -- he sure looks 100% to these old eyes

Gold Rush,

I have no doubt that one day, TH will back back at full strength. The thing that worries me is that usually when someone recovers from a knee injury, it's 2 football seasons before they are playing the same. This happened with Robert Edwards and it's happened with alot of guys. The knee gets rehabilitated, but then the player needs another year to get back to football-playing shape. So, assuming TH is out for the year, I wonder how effective he can be next year.

In any event, let's just hope for a quick and full recovery.

Sidney Ford is probably going to medical RS. He is out. GC is questionable - and frequently banged up. Hatch is still not 100% and questionable.

Our healthy options are Ace, Daniels, and Dixon. Not much experience there. Unless Hatch or GC get better fast, we need to look strongly at moving Dixon to TB and possibly moving Landry or J. Smith to TB. Otherwise we have only 2 tailbacks, one is a true frosh and the other a walk on.

Well, at this point, if Hatch is 80-90%, that might have to suffice....

He sure looked pretty good vs Vandy when I saw him..He seemed to be cutting well, and had good mobility. If he has some soreness after the game or whatever thats to be expected at this point.

With two RBs, one of whom is a walk-on, we don't have many options unfortunately

What is the scoop on the stats for Logan? How fast and how big is he? Can he run from the back position?

Ah, I think you're right. We may need to look at some of the old option QBs on the roster (like TH?) to give us some depth. What about Landry?

NCJacket, it seems Landry was supposed to be a good runner, but a weak arm. We may see some of these guys come over to the offensive side of the ball. Do you know his weight and speed?

Also, I am hopeful Dixon and Hatch will get some more looks at the position. Gee, we sure did get thin in a hurry!

Not sure why y'all are panicking over the running back situation.
ACE looked outstanding in that game. Almost certain to be much better than trying to convert an old QB to running back.

BeeWare, I think most agree Ace looked good for a newbie, but what if he gets hurt in the next game.

Since this is a board where ex jocks and fans come to discuss our team, and any little tidbit of football, you owe us an apology for trying to spoil our fun.

Or maybe, you were just trying to join in the conversation, and I spoiled your fun!

Are you guys forgetting so soon that TH was an "old" converted QB? That was my point, find somebody else who ran an option attack in high school just in case we have any more problems. I too feel Ace can handle it, but worry about needing a change of pace or (heaven forbid) any more injuries. If Hatch is okay that's great. Mayber Sampson? All I know about Daniels is what I've seen on here and the Hive.

I agree, Ramblinwise. In the spring game, Bilbo looked best when he just tucked the ball and ran. If he's too good an athlete to leave on the sidelines, then give him a shot at tailback. Ace looked good enough to be the new starter IMHO.

You guys ask about panicing?

Well 2 healthy tailbacks is not enough. 3 would be a bare minimum and right now we only have 2. One is a true freshman who's been playing the position for 2 weeks and the other is a walk on.

Are you really comfortable with that?

Time to start looking at other options if you ask me. I suggested Landry and J. Smith because they seem to be the best options based on their HS experience, size, and speed.

I'd like to hear more specifics about the status of Hatch....If he could play, even slightly less than 100%, it would be huge IMO...It seems weird that no one is even bringing his name up at this point...

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">All I know from what I've read and heard is that 1) he is not ready 2) he hasn't recovered to 100% 3) he is on the scout team.

You don't want to rush a kid back just because there is a need. Otherwise he could ruin his knee for good. Playing at a reduced % of 100 is not a good idea and is not likely to be helpful to the team.

Actually, that depends Kir -

If Hatch is experiencing soreness and some pain after running - and even some swelling; thats somewhat expected at this point in recovery...

Anything beyond that (above) is where he needs to rest it....

Against Vandy, he looked pretty good. I assume he had some pain/awelling after that game, leading to his current situation.

At this point, I'm surprised he's not closer to 100% - I forget - when did he have this injury ?

What happened to Dixon? It's like he fell off the earth and just when we are short of RBs.Very strange.
