Sagarin's, FWIW

The predictor ratings are interesting. The sagarin rankings used in the BCS don't take point margins into account. The predictor does and it historically does better at predicting game outcomes than the official Sagarin rankings.

We're ranked number 7 and USC still far and away has the best ranking. I'm hoping of course it will shake out that way for us, but let's wait and see.

Sagarin's system gets better the more "connected" it gets, because it uses who-beat-who-beat-who-beat-who math.

Sagarin was the first poll to move us up the ladder in 1990 and the first to name us #1 that year.

Still a little early - we'll drop next week with the effect of GW on our SoS but should bounce right back if we do ok in Clemson.

beej,

Yeah, this is unfortunately pointless right now.

00,

Not in the Elo ratings we won't (assuming we win)

.

That's screwy and there because of a misguided attempt to discourage teams from running up scores.

The Sagarin rating already discounts runaway score effects.

Most importantly, Sagarin recognizes the value of a close loss in determinging relative strength of teams. A close loss to a full power USC may tell you more about how good a team is than a blowout win over Buffalo.
