Saw a FB player doing something cool in class

He was filling out a two or three page questtionaire with questions on it like, "are you committed to winning the ACC," and things like that. I think on the first page there were some personal questions...anyway, I happened to be sitting next to a player in class and noticed he was filling this thing out. Kinda cool. I guess this is a way for CPJ to assess the team.

OK, gotta ask

Exactly which class were you guys "goofing off" in for him to be doing a questionaire, and you to be looking in?

Not that I am against his priorities, just curious.

What a stupid question. Who is going to say no?
Kyle, the point of the question is not what the players answer. The point is to get firmly cemented in their minds what the goal is and make them think about what might be asked of them in order to get there. I don't have any doubts that the team is going to be asked to work much harder than they have been and he's trying to make them think about it and get mentally prepared.

Eh, it's the first week of classes. I consider myself a pretty good student and I was reading a book through most of my first EAS 1601 session the other day, and really didn't miss anything.

Thank you, God!

Finally the HC is going to get insides these guys heads and make them question their resolve instead of treating them like pups and saying it's his fault when they don't succeed.

That's how to build a team. That's how you win.

HELL YES! I think we may have a football coach on the Flats. GO TECH!

I have to say the vast majority of the lectures at Tech weren't all that necessary, only the math and physics lectures were worth listening to in order to see an equation being developed or a concept quantitated. I spend my entire CS tenure getting slides flashed at me for just about every CS class and I did not go to many of the classes, some I only went to take tests since the slides for every class could be downloaded and reviewed at any time. And this was a very common practice during my years (2000-2003). In college 99% of the work is done off the classroom anyways.

I think its a good idea. It lets the players know what the staff is expecting to accomplish and lets the staff get to know the players on a more personal level as well as their goals.

Awesome stuff!

No exaggeration whatsoever, Paul Johnson's last name might as well have been Bryant in 1AA and service academy football. He's been that dominant.

Whether you like the triple option or not, it's clear he knows a little bit about motivating football teams and extracting every bit of his players' talent on the field.

Wow! You current Tech students should probly stop posting that you dont have to go to class to pass and that your not paying attention. The ol' timers on here will lose half of the stuff they type about comparing how hard Tech is to how easy ugaG is.
Seriously, its good to see the football program taking priority at Tech. Go CPJ!

The important portion of this post is bolded.

EAS 1601 has to be one of the easiest classes at Tech.

On a similar note, kinda. I have a class with a football player and we all had to stand up and introduce ourselves. He introduced himself, said he was on the football team and that they had a new coach and that he was really excited about it.

Oh, my bad, I had it confused with intro to Geology.

Here's the OSCAR def:

EAS 1601 - Habitable Planet Introduction to the origin and evolution of Planet Earth, creation of the universe and the elements, early history of Earth, radioisotope geochemistry and the timing of events in the universe, the galaxy, and on Earth. Formation of the atmosphere and oceans. Climate.

Yeah, I'd skip the first week of lecture in that class.

I had EAS 6412 in grad school, and it was pretty tough:

EAS 6412 - Physical Meterology Application of the fundamental principles of thermodynamics to the atmosphere; including hydrostatic equilibrium and static stability, derivation of Claussius-Clapeyron Equation, cloud microphysics, radiative transfer, and the Earth's energy budget.

Wow beej. That sounds easier than Oceanography. That was my sleep in class senior year. I went the first day, to take the mid term exam, the day I thought he was giving the exam back (left when he didn't) and the day he actually gave us the mid term grade. Got an A and caught up on my sleep.

Well we can bump this thread around midterms and find out exactly how easy it is from Beesball, since he's taking it.

beej67,
doesn't really think any 1000 level class at Tech was particularly hard, best as I can recall, save for CS1501 and the first Chem classes

Was CS 1501 the scheme course? I can attest that most CS courses do not require lecture attendance, as you learned more in recitation anyways. This, of course, did not alleviate the extreme load of work coming from them, so you old timers can rest assured that the classes up hold the tradition of the Shaft. CS 2130 still gives me nightmares...

I never had the luxury of EAS 1601. Took Bio 2(forget the course number) to satisfy the lab science. I always heard it was a joke though.
