Anybody have any insight on who our 12th opponent will be? Does Coach PJ want to schedule a SEC school like LSU or Kentucky, or does he want to just get a win?? I would love to schedule a BCS school if they would come to Atl this year.

Get ready to be disappointed. We want a home game and can't give one back for a number of years so I doubt a high major is interested in working with us to make that happen.

I'm sure we'll come out on top financially (benefit of Army playing here but not having the expenses of going there + their buyout of the game + another home game in '08) but we'll take a bit a of a PR hit by playing 2 d1-AAs this year. If anything, this is a good year to do it - good practice implementing a radically new offense and a year where we're not contending for a national championship (the only time strength of schedule matters, anyway).

It appears to be Gardner Webb on October 11.

We play two SEC Bowl teams from last year, one likely being ranked preseason #1 somewhere. We don't need to worry about our OOC schedule. We have a very tough overall schedule this year.

By the way, I don't think that date is necessarily correct - I think it was an assumption (based on the game being a replacement for the Army game) by a website that keeps track of college schedules.

We need to petition the ACC to go to a 9 game conference schedule. We are going to have a hell of a time scheduling in the future due to PJ and the offense we run. If the ACC goes to 9 games, we technically only have to search for 2 non conference opponents per season (UGAg is a given) As it stands right now, it's either pay out the arse to get a lower level I-A team to come play us, or our season ticket holders get to watch us pummel the Gardner Webb's of the world. On the surface it seems like a good idea to me, what do you guys think?

We need to schedule easy like UGA and start getting 10 win seasons. We need wins right now. We got to break away from the 7 win stuff. With our schedule, we need a easy "W". No need to be heros this year.

Agreed. Especially with the games in conference coming up with FSU and OOC with Miss. State.

I know everyone knows this but we'll always have 4 TOUGH games with UM, VT, UGA and Clemson.

I agree. Are there any other teams available out there as easy as UGA that we can pick up? We could use one of those breathers on the front end of the schedule, too.

Gardner Webb is not only the Bulldogs. They are red and black. They have even worn the G symbol on helmets in some years.

This is excellent psycholgy by PJ. Beat the Dawgs who wear red and black. It is called "visualization" an excellent psychotherapy technique for a team that has lost 7 straight to UGA.

It's a shame we will play them in Atlanta. Game day in Boiling Springs would have been great for Yellow Jacket nation. Believe me, there would have been many pastoral settings for tailgaiting. However, as a NC Baptist school, there would have been no alcohol allowed. :p
