Georgia Tech offensive line coach Mike Sewak heads into the 2010 season looking to replace three players that started for the Jackets in the 2010 Orange Bowl. Gone are starting guards Joseph Gilbert and Cordero Howard and tackle Brad Sellers.

“I thought they did a good job,” said Coach Sewak. “Everybody made it through the conditioning test on the offensive line except for two freshmen walk-ons.” This was the best the line has done since Coach Sewak has been at Georgia Tech. “They know what was expected of them so they paid the price over the summer and worked hard.”

“Now that we have three starters coming back at tackle, it should be beneficial to us.” Phil Smith, Claytor, and Austin Barrick are now back to being healthy.

Finch and his teammates Will Jackson and Raymond Beno were billed as the first line class that fits the style of offense run by Georgia Tech. “In this offense you have to be big as well as athletic and fast.”

Reading things like this gives me chills. The details of our improvement make it nearly unbearable to wait until the end of the month.

What about those two freshman walkons that didn't pass the conditioning test? I'm worried about our depth.

How common is this though? I cant imagine that its too rare for incoming freshman to be in substandard shape when compared to guys who have been working at the college level for two or three years

Glad to see the optimism. I do see good things for the OLINE as I like the talent that has been brought in. IMHO this is the area we have to get better at if we are going to compete at the BCS level. Seems when we have stepped up we get blasted at the LOS. So I hope the optimism is well founded

Two 300yd(25yds back and forth) shuttle runs in 1:02 for O-Line. There some NFL players who couldnt do that. Bravo for the OL for completing this tough task in 6 o'clock heat and humidity

T: Barrick, Claytor, Smith, Bailey
G: Uzzi, McRae, Krish, Jackson, Beno, Alford
C: Bedford, Finch

I would say that if anything we could use a 4th Tackle with experience, but all three of those guys have been starters, and our guards are interchangeable. I think with 10 returners we will be in good shape.

Next year, however, I think we'll have to play some freshmen in the 2-deep.

Bailey and Alford aren't walkons, so it wasn't those two.
