It would take consecutive wins over Clemson and Maryland to salvage the first half of the season at 4-2. We would then need to go 5-1 in the second half to not go back from last year. Is it doable? Yes. Is it likely? No.

Why did our season careen off track at UVA today?
1. Defense comes out flat. They played a great game today. They just did not start until after the first two possessions.
2. TB is not the answer at QB. He does some good things. But, everybody seems to be able to complete 60% these days except us. 17 of 40 is not going to get it done. Too many balls behind receivers, too many jump balls, too many batted balls, slow on several handoffs, just not a very good QB right now.
3. Bad clock management before the half. 1st down, 16 seconds, three timeouts. How do you not take a shot at the end zone? How do you only run one play before kicking?
4. Avery Roberson could have made the "winning play" with an INT at the UVA thirty two.
5. The fumbled punt. This was the "losing play". Then on 1st down Avery doesn't cover his wideout.
6. No one steps up to make a winning play at the end. Taylor steps out of bounds for 4th and 1 rather than cutting back inside, taking a hit, but getting a 1st down at the 20. Thomas drops a catch to give us a chance.

You win close games when guys step up to make winning plays. You keep from losing close games by not making mistakes. This must be corrected if the season is to brighten.

With all that said, the most impoirtant thing now is to pray that #15 will be all right.

Agreed on Earls. Hope everything turns out okay.

I'd add one more thing to the mix. I think we gave up on the run too much today and got a little pass happy at times. We obviously thought we had something on the deep passes but once it was obvious it wasn't working we should have worked underneath more and kept establishing the run which wasn't exactly getting shut down. My too biggest concerns with Bennett right now is how many of his balls get knocked down and his inconsistencies with his touch. He can throw a beauty one minute and then throw it 5 yards long the next.

Yes, my sentiments exactly. We passed less against BC and they were stuffing our run... I don't understand why we didn't run the ball more when JD was getting 6 yards a carry easily.
