Hopefully I can ask this without looking too much like an idiot.

I know season tickets have gone up the past few years in numbers, My question is, is it because if the individual fans or is it because of corporations coming in and donating large amounts of money and getting many tickets for their donation?

Is there anyway of finding this out?

Reason asking is I have been approached by many friends who sit in great seats on the west side and every year for the past 8 or 9 years more and more seats are being sat in by opposing fans.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can say this. Anytime you have a team that performs at a level less than expected and a coach who is not loved by a large portion of the fans, you are bound to have more season ticket holders selling their seats. I think the TECH fund did open up more doors for opposing (read - UGAg) fans to get good seats though as well. How many did? I have no idea. Still cheaper for opposing fans to get good seats in our stadium than their own. They can then sell several of the other games to make back some of their money...

More to the point:

I don't think so, unless you work in GTAA and have access to their sales records.

I am interested to see how much red there is when we play UGA this year. I heard a lot of UGA fans were buying flex packs just to get the 1 game.

If that's the case, we only have ourselves to blame. The flexpacks were available solely to season tickets holders / TECH FUND contributors long before they were available to the general population.

Happens every year. I don't mind it because it makes the UGA fans pay for seats in our stadium.

You don't mind our stadium being half full of opposing fans? I sure as hell do. I would rather pay double the current ticket prices if it would mean a sea of yellow...kinda like it's a see of red when we play in Athens.

Techin,
I played there when it was 55/45 Tech/Visitors vs. AU, ALA, nad lickers, UT. What a great atmosphere because when it came to the acc we usually had about 35,000 to 40,000 on average show up. Don't get me wrong I hate them taking up seats but better than half empty.

Dude, they're buying tickets for NC State, tickets that wouldn't have been sold anyway, and then not coming.

No, I don't mind making some UGA A-hole buy tickets to 3 games so he can go to 1. As soon as we can fill our stadium vs NCState on our own merit, I'm sure the 3 game flex packs will go away, or at least not be made available to the general public.

This is what I was getting at...it makes it seem like you don't mind that our current fanbase can't fill our stadium. My apologies if I misinterpreted.

No sweat. If there's a magic push-button fix to sell our stadium out with Tech fans, lets do it. Until then, lets make Ugaggers help us sell our stadium out just so they can watch the UGA game. It pisses them off, and it pays our bills, sounds like a win-win to me.

But they're paying for seats we couldn't afford and have us steep in debt. In essence they're paying for seats we have to pay the debt on and take care of. so their "fee" does not cover our costs. the north endzone expansion was a poor idea.

Debt due to expansion is a cost.

I think expansion was a good idea long term, and the numbers will bear that out over time.

pie in the sky by and by eh beej

well here's what I got to say: **** em. I don't care if we close down the ****ing north stands for the ****ing UGAG game to keep those mother ****ers out. **** em.
