SEC needs Sunbelt Conf: so NCAA won\'t split

In this good article from the Miami Herald it spells out that the major conferences may split from the NCAA to keep the gigantic money from Bowls & the Big Dance all to themselves.

ACC expansion may split NCAA

I say that a coupla conferences, particularly the SEC, must keep the smaller conferences alive. If the SEC doesn't keep the Sunbelt afloat, & has to play vs only the major conferences, they won't have 5 teams to play in Bowls, much less 8 Bowls.
Heck, the SEC plays a round robin with Mid Tenn St, La-Lafayette & La-Monroe now (only the home side, not the double round robin of actually playing a road game). With interspersed games with N Mex St & N Tex St thrown in. Troy St & some ConUSA teams & WAC teams must be kept alive for when there are scheduling conflicts with La-Monroe, etc, which also bouys the SEC's hopes of getting to a Bowl.
No way that the major conferences actually split from the NCAA.

I don't think they would split on purpose, but there is the possibility of the colleges outside the major conferences being seen as lesser ones and it could affect the TV revenue and financial stability of the lesser teams.

It might well lead to a super Division of colleges with money and those without.
