"This isn’t to suggest Dan Radakovich and Chan Gailey ever actually pondered a food fight in the Georgia Tech cafeteria. But it certainly looked like a symbolic snapshot on the state of Tech football when the athletics director and coach sat down for lunch Tuesday at adjacent tables at the same time — back to back, a foot apart, looking in opposite directions."

Wow.

If this, and the rest of the article are even remotely accurate then CCG had better pack his bags.

Also, Yellow Jacket Nation, be ready for a big-time coach on The Flats next year. My respect for Radakovich just went way up.

GO JACKETS!!!

It's going to be hard for GT to reign in a big-time coach will all of the openings that will be available this year.

Don't get me wrong -- I hope it happens. I just think that this year will prove to be more difficult than most.

And, most importantly, please catch someone on the upside instead of the downside.

I don't think anyone is kidding themselves into thinking that we will get a current "big time" coach, the key is to get one that is just waiting for his shot.

I agree with this. I'm just saying that with the number of openings that will be available this year, it will be more difficult.

Ok, I'm guilty.

I didn't mean to say we would go hire a big name. What I meant to say is that I agree with Schultz:

"Both are good men. Both want the same thing. But when Radakovich rises at 5:30, and is sitting in his office at 7, and is trying to figure out how to get people excited about Georgia Tech football, do you really believe he is thinking about Gailey?"

"Maybe the success and the visibility of Tech football hasn’t always been there, but Radakovich isn’t going to accept that it can’t always be there. In his mind, things get better or he has failed."

Again, if these are accurate then my confidence that he will hire the right guy just went up.

How 'bout this instead...

Yellow Jacket Nation, get ready for a coach with some fire that wants to win NOW on The Flats next year.

You know people have been saying the same thing every season for the past 3-4 seasons. There will always be turnover and higher profile jobs out there.

Of course. I think that the Carr resignation has the opportunity (no guarantee that it will) to make things more interesting than usual.

Don't get me wrong -- I want the best for GT, always have, and I have the utmost confidence in Radakovich to bring in the right person.

Was Richt an "established, big-time" coach when UGa hired him?

I think dRad can do as good or better at picking a guy who can come in here and pump some dadgum enthusiasm into this place. You just can't get a clear definition of what Gailey's expectations are for himself or the team or anything.

Gailey's quote is so horrifyingly typical:

Rivalry games define success. But when asked Tuesday about the impact of winning or losing such games, Gailey said: “I don’t know that I have the answer to that question.”

Well one impact I can think of is the impact on your paycheck.

That quote just tells me even moreso that Gailey just does not "get" college football.
