it looks like the hive is temporarily not allowing new posts. good thing we have stingtalk

Yeah he kicked me off and sent me an email saying he was no longer doing the Hive-he said he quit!

ramblin ....do u not liek him or teh hive? just a question b/c i thought he kicked ome out for nothing more than anyone else says

the whole point of a message board is to allow us to discuss whatever happens, win or lose. seems like the guy on the hive cant accept reality, and expects us to say sumthing positive about every game or situation no matter what happens

can u talk football more here? not just have to be positive? if i am a realist i am going to speak teh truth-is it ok to do that here?

He booted me for criticizing the latest anti-prayer court ruling. I was roundly taunted and threatened before that for being critical about gays taking over the Renaissance hotel one weekend of a Tech game. He's a jerk plain and simple and I hope he does quit the Hive, move to the Left Coast and work for Microsoft.

If posters didn't attack players and maintained a
level of decorum, they could discuss whatever
they wanted, whenever they wanted, wherever they
wanted.

Unfortunately, not everyone acts like an adult online.

This board has a smaller and more well mannered
crowd, with a few exceptions.

If Stingtalk ever reaches the size and volume of
the Hive it won't be the same around here as it
is now.

As a mod on the Hive, I was already dreading the
onslaught of destructive posts I was going to have
to wade through.

Can't say I'm sad about that. Any mild criticism over there elicits an attack from other posters. The Hive has become so PC.

cracjerjacket- i want you to go to gameday forum please and see what i put- i did not bash any players-i simply spoke teh truth -that we as fans needed to do something and since i am not a money man the only thing i can do is get rid of my tickets and that iw ill not be in atlanta any more this year. what do u think of that?
thanks

Cracker - the problem is not attacking players. It is the pissing contest that results when anyone critisizes anything that makes the board so unbearable after a loss.

I'm not a big Hive fan either.

IMHO, the problem was not seperating the content. There was nowhere to go to vent to some extent. That creates a clash of the extreme optimists, and the extreme pessimists. Low and behold, a "Holier than thou" war erupts and it gets nasty from there on.

Thankfully there are other thriving Georgia Tech boards out there such as StingTalk and ACCbbs and ACCBoards, although the GT board at ACCBoards was D.O.A. last time I checked due to the moving of the GT fans from there to ACCbbs.

Kudos to the StingTalk peoples by the way. I've been busy doing the technical work behind ACCbbs and haven't been able to check this place out in a long while. Like what you've done with the place.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">That's true. People seem to have a problem with
being civil and acting like adults. Emotions run
high after losses like this game.

I honestly don't envy RR's position. Its a no-win
IMHO. Leave the board up and let it implode or
take it down and get flack for being a control
freak? Tough choice.

In the end, you have to do what is best for the
GT program, players, fans, and image. You have to
close it down until everyone can calm down and act
like adults

Yes, some of us could make constructive posts. But
a large number of bad apples spoil it for us all.

The problem with The Hive is that it tries to create a perfect environment. I'm sorry, nature doesn't allow that. Nothing is supposed to be perfect. If folks would start accepting the fact that it is ok to criticize something that is being done incorrectly, it would be fine.

You are right, it is not an enviable postion. I just think it is a little self important to think that the future of GT depends on a an internet message board. A lot of folks like to celebrate the wins and cry in their beers with other Tech folks after games. I don't think it is right to take that away. So what if someone post 'Gailey is an idiot' or other childesh post.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">True. Its just a message board.

But here we are arguing the merit of it being up
or down.
