Sewak new O-Line Coach

It will be interesting to see if Sewak is in the press box on game day relaying info to PJ. That's what he did at GSU when PJ was HC. His title at GSU was OC, but PJ may not have one designated at GT. He calls his own plays from the sideline.

Sewak is a fine coach and a fine man. His wife, Robin, is from Marietta, so his family should be comfortable in the Atlanta area.

He understands what PJ wants to do as well as anyone in the country, and you'll see his OL ringing up the pancake blocks in every game.

GREAT get for our program. As good, if not an upgrade over Joe D at the OL spot.

Style curious who the QB coach is....we need a good one there.

Good stuff. The most important thing in the hiring process is to make sure PJ gets someone he is comfortable with. With Sewak, Giff Smith, and his navy coaches he should feel right at home. My only concern is Wommack.

Mike was a GA when I was playing for a year or so, great guy and can imagine only got better with time. I feel better about our O-Line now.

i agree with john. I think this is a great hire and dont have to worry so much about the oline now.

Can anybody list the potential coaching staff? I would think there are still several holes. I was hoping for Mcollum as well. Local guy and great recruiter. I assume he could still be part of the defensive staff.

According to Gapanther on the Hive, All the staff is set except for one mystery coach on defense. I HOPE this is one very good mystery coach....We need some new juice over on the defensive side of the ball. McCollum or Stowers? Maybe even Reggie Herring?

John,
Do you know what changes will the linemen have to make using the new offense in techniques, etc ?

No, not really. I never ran this type of offense so I don't know what to expect. Logic says lineman in the 290 to 310 range very quick able to run downfield and hopefully give QB 3 to 5 seconds on play action passes. Play action will stop the defensive line for a couple of seconds and then the linemen need to finish strong. I also, look to have 7 to 9 linemen in the rotation as well.

I can't wait to see Mike and talk to him a little bit.

Another plus with the hiring of Mike is that he is a good recruiter and has good connections with high school coaches in GA and FL. Expect some new recruits from Florida.

Get ready for a lot of cut blocking. In PJ's terms, it's helmet to knee football. Some zone plays and zone blocking, but a lot of veer blocking rules will apply.

Anyone think John Pate will be the secret one for D? PJ seemed to really like him in statesboro.

Can you give us a little insight on John Pate? Is it a sure thing that G. Smith has been retained? I had also heard that there was a good chance the Kelly had been asked to stay as well....any insight available? When is the official listing of the staff going to be made today/tomorrow?

From everything I've read, the mystery coach in on offense. I think we're set on D.
