Visiting fans in SEC taking a back seat (link)

Auburn ticket-office manager Tim Jackson was angry to learn that Georgia Tech, a non-conference opponent, was putting all but 785 of 8,500 Auburn fans in the upper deck at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta on Sept. 6. Georgia Tech is doing the same thing to Georgia, reserving barely enough room in the lower level for the visiting band and school staffers.

This visitor seating [non?]issue seems to be popping up everywhere. Now Auburn is upset?

Haven't read enought of your previous posts to know where your coming from. The "shafting the visitors" topic heading is yours, so my take is you feel we aren't being nice to visitors?

I wouldn't worry to much about it, if you are present on game day you will see plenty of auburn colors in good seats.

When a visiting team give Tech road fans a lower deck, solid section, we should do the same, no sooner. Seems simple to me.

I doubt seriously Auburn has a reserved section, lower deck for the entire Tech allotment when we go there.

Cut the indignation routine. Sounds like the Auburn and Georgia ticket directors ran into each other at tractor pull last week and shared whining notes.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I thought "Shafting the Visitors" sounded like a pretty good headline. I put up the link because I think its funny that other ticket-directors have picked up on this seating thing. This is a non-issue to me. Anything for home field advantage...

Shouldn't it be more of a concern to the GTAA to give the good seats/sections to Tech fans?!? Sheesh, I guess AU and UGA think we should bow to them for gracing us with their presense at BDS@HGF.

Dang! These SEC people are nuts I say...nuts! There isn't a bad seat any longer at BDS and if someone from UgaG or Auburn has a ticket to a game on our turf and they don't like their seats, stay home. It's really that easy. That way they can watch the game on their black and white 13" console tv and drink all the Pabst or Old Mikwaukee beer that they can guzzle down.
Like we at Tech really care what they think!

Our House, Our rules so let them have a little cheese with their whine too.

Well, indubitably we should seek to fornicate them for their opinions, in my humble opinion

hope you guys are just being jingoistic....

Give respect where respect is due, UNLIKE jawja, Auburn fans aren't obnoxious, condescending and most actually matriculated from their institution. They are just raising an issue... I'd like to hear anyone who had a bad time at Jordan Hare and yes they seat fans in the lower deck towards the south endzone. I have found out that most of 'em root for Tech because their rivalry with the leghumpers is as vicious if not more than ours. I just dont want us to just lump them into the same class as Jawja as we DO share a common rival...an enemies enemy is usually our friend.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Auburn does put the visitors all together in the lower corner of the stadium. From what I've heard, with the way other schools are allocating visitors tickets, they are looking to change this in the future.

SEC schools, including UGA, are required (for conference games) to seat a certain percentage in the lower decks. To me, its just not a big deal. When the AU and UGA fans see where they're sitting, they'll be fine. There are no longer any bad seats at BDS.

UGA and AU is known as a friendly rivalry. There are very few unpleasant incidents between the two schools. It's been described by Pat Dye as a backyard brawl between two brothers......."you love your bother, but you want to beat him."

Another thing, AU does a really good job of putting the vast majority of the visiting fans together. Its a great place to go for a football game. The only problems are lack of different routes in and out and lack of bathroom facilities!!!

Upper deck is better than lower deck for football anyway....if you are in to watching the game.
