Okay, Bees..."I got your back" this week. I, too, had my kids change the channels while Tivo'ing a game this weekend, but thank goodness it was the Falcons game...I got the good one! I'm not so eloquent and probably not as knowlegeable, but here goes:

NEGATIVES
1) P.J. Daniels put the ball on the ground 3 different times. Only twice did the ball come out to the point where someone else had to dive on it...the other time, it kindof poppped out and right back into his hands as he was hitting the ground (I just caught a flash of it and hit the instant replay with 1/8th speed...God I love my Tivo!...and got a chance to see it). Not a fumble, I know, but it always scares me when a RB doesn't hold the ball tightly enough.
2) We got a horrible spot by the ref on the 4th down play where we didn't convert. If you watch him, he moves back almost an entire yard from where he starts to spot the football.
3) Dropped passes. Reggie had 5 balls dropped by receivers (I didn't bother to note who the players were). We can't have that many dropped passes agains Felony State University.

POSITIVES
1) Both Eric Henderson & Gerris Wilkinson looked incredibly good on the D-line. On one play, GW starts the pass rush...sees the tight end swing out for a pass, moves back two steps and makes a perfectly timed leap to deflect the ball...but here's the good part. He was athletic enough that he was moving toward that ball after he deflected it with somewhat of a chance to catch the ball. After he batted it down, you could tell that he was happy about knocking it down, but then the look on his face was one of determination that seemed to say, "Next time, I'm not gonna bat it so far...next time I'm taking it to the house!"
2. What a catch by the tight end on the ball thrown over the middle!
3. We had 3 converted QB's play in the game this weekend---Bilbo got in for 2 plays, Landry and Logan obviously made big plays for us.
4. At one point the announcer even made a comment about this. I'll use his words: "I'm just so impressed with Reggie Ball's play. He's making the reads, and I don't just mean to the primary receiver. He's taking his progressions like on that play and looking at his primary receiver and when he's not open, immediately going to his secondary receiver...and then hitting him on time! And to think that 3 months ago, this kid was swapping the tassle to the other side of his hat in a high school graduation! He's playing like a 3rd year sophomore or a 4th year junior."
5. Incredible blocking on the fake punt. Four blockers on the right side blocked that in a classic trap pattern and created a wedge for Reis to run through.
6. Speaking of Reis, he ran that fake punt, had a sack, and made one other play (the memory fails me here...sorry...but I think it was on special teams).

I'll be rewatching the game again tomorrow night and may get a chance to post more on Wednesday.

Thanks a lot mate! It is amazing how many little details you can pick up with Tivo.

Good report.

Didn't Woods also "fumble" a ball that was blown dead? Those officals had the fastest whistles I've ever seen.

One thing I didn't like about the officials performance, was that they let awBarn's defensive backs nearly tear the jerseys off our receivers ...on virtually EVERY pass play.

Yes, I didn't post that because I didn't want it to seem like I was whining, but there were at least 4 plays where the camera angles showed OBVIOUS holding or illegal contact after 5 yards. On 2 of them, the announcers even comment on the fact that they were illegally disrupting the patterns and forcing the ball to look like an overthrow when it should have been called interference.

It was always on #4's side where the holding wouldn't be called. At least 3. On the other side we got 2 calls. One was on the second half TD drive I believe.

Were not the officals from the SEC? They in my opinion let many pass interference go by the boards. It was almost like they were trying to help Aubum win.

I agree that this was a badly officiated game. Besides allowing Auburn to MUG our receivers the WORST of their calls was when Auburn fumbled around midfield on their last drive before half when they kicked the FG. That play wasn't even close as the Auburn player fumbled while he was still on his feet and Tech recovered but to no avail. I have to believe that this call was devious because I can't believe that they couldn't see it. If they give us the ball on Auburn's side of the field we could have easily led by two TD's at halftime. But I am very pleased with the outcome anyway.

Yep, OldFoggy, they were SEC refs. The visiting team's conference usually provides the refs these days it seems.

Really we can't complain too much on the officiating. We can't get every call. They sure got AU at some nasty times. Also go back and look to see Dorsey hold on that Ball run to the 1 yd line before the TD.That would have hurt.
Other comments- Fox and smith were DOMINANT.Enjoy them while you can.Not only are they big, fast, and strong tacklers but exp gets them to the right place.
Oddly Cox ,the Sr, might be our weakest player in the DBs.He tackles like he learned under another DEF coach.
Henderson actually threw aside with one hand the 340lb AU guard,Crittendon, on a pass rush..Awesome.
