I think CPJ needs to look at several facets of the GT program and make some decisions. IMO, the bottom line is until we can recruit the four and five star athletes consistently we will lag behind the majority of the teams we play. We do not have and have not had for several years the horses it takes to compete at the national level.

At this point in time, it isn’t about offense, defense, or schemes. If you don’t have the studs to compete you won’t be competitive at the national level. NOW, if we get players and we stay stagnant, then yeah coaching changes need to be addressed.

Agreed but when he was hired, the opinion was that his scheme is the equalizer for our talent differential.

I think it's clear that, if it ever was, it isn't an Equalizer any more. 2 losing seasons in 3, 3 of 4 lost to Duke, 2 of 3 missed-bowl seasons?

Any sort of offensive scheme could've put up 7 pts against the mutts or scored >0 pts against Duke in the 2nd half.

Does the scheme have any effect on D? D-recruiting? I don't know. I just know that the D has always been very, very bad for as long as we've played under Johnson's scheme regardless of who has DC'd.

After awhile, it's not anomalous but a pattern.

The initial kickoff reception by Howard told me everything I needed to know about our special teams preparation. Mostly that we didn't have any.

Johnson is going to have to add/upgrade passing plays to the offense. It is just what it is.

Well we switched to Howard for kick returners just one game earlier, because Cottrell wasn't doing jack. Valuable experience for Howard going forward, at least

17-19 the last three years.

Nothing is going to change. We will have 2 more years of this unless we go 3-9 or worse next year, which could very well happen.

I love Howard as a player but resent sending him out there with the pitiful preparation he was obviously given.

I don’t disagree 92. I agree with the pattern part, but if you have athletes that can compete you have the ability to do more scheme wise. For instance, if you have a pair of lockdown corners it opens the blitz packages. Hard to play with 5’10 corners and be successful. Our,kids play hard, but they aren’t high caliber players imo.

They aren't the highest caliber athletes and they aren't being coached very well. It's a lethal combo.

no disagreement on any of that. I just wonder what effect on recruiting the scheme has on both sides of the ball, though I think the O side is more obvious.

Special teams is only a third of the equation..important yes, but a third of it all

I think we need a 3rd OL coach

LOL.......we need an,offensive line coach period..that crap pisses me,off so badly that I’m not even going there. Again today, we got our asses hands to us on a consistent basis. Same ole same ole for the last 10years. It’s obvious Johnson is t,going,to get rid of his boy.
