Chick-fil-A:
Georgia Tech (ACC No. 2) vs. Kentucky (SEC)

Anyone else agree with this? I don't think they will, although I am surprised that SI, who predicted us to finish with 2 whole wins, would call us the second most desirable ACC team.

*I refuse to acknowledge the bowl game as being named entirely after a chain of christian restaurants that is famous for a chicken patty with a pickle on it.

You gotta admit that the chicken is tasty, though. (Nonetheless, it's still the Peach to me.)

At any rate, yeah, I don't agree at all unless we win out. If we win 1 of 2 Champs, Music City, or Car Care is likely our destination. If we lose out, well, let's not think about it.

Beat Miami and play a fun to watch game at the cesspool (win or lose) and we might go to Gator (#3 pick). Chicken Biscuit has #2 pick and will only take GT if we are head and shoulders best team available (were not this year). They need the $ from out of towners.

My guess is Charlotte (car Tire??) Bowl, but I am hoping for Music City.

I'm worried that the organizers are going to get fixated on the "matchup" and put us up against Navy in that D.C. bowl. We need to win at least one more to avoid that.

Nashville would be nice but we'll be playing there next year against Vandy. I guess 2 trips spanning 11 months isn't horrible.

I'd love to see us in the Peach against any of those 2nd tier SEC teams - Peach organizers would need guns pulled on 'em to put us in though (maybe we can hire that Bama fan).

Notre Dame in the Gator? To extend their losing streak against the ACC. Hopefully, they've played their way out of that one. And we would have to win out to get there.

Contact, You're exactly right. I said this at the beginning of the season that if we went 7-5 or 8-4 we would go to that bowl. Great match up for TV and it would sell out for the first year. We need to win the next two to stay away in my opinion.

I think I'd actually like the whatever it is Bowl in DC, only because that's close enough for me to drive down for and attend. For the team's sake, I'd rather we played on New Year's Day or later though.

I don't think we'll end up in the Peach bowl. I don't think the ASC likes us very much.

The new Congressional Bowl has the last pick of the ACC bowls (yes, even after Boise). According to NCAA regulations, all teams with winning records must be selected for bowls before any 6-6 teams (even within a conference), so unless everyone in the conference has at least 7 wins I doubt we'll fall that far.

Is this a change from last year when the Emerald picked the 6-6 Terps and our 7-5 team got stuck with Boise?

Hrm, I stand corrected. Looking at the regulation, I suppose there's some leeway for the ACC bowls to say "Well, both these teams will be placed in ACC bowls, so it doesn't really matter."

If, say, there was 1 bowl left and a 7-5 team and a 6-6 team then there would be no leeway to pick the 6-6 team over the 7-5 team.

At any rate, I maintain we still control our own bowl destiny. I think if we beat Miami we will be in decent shape.

Until proven otherwise, we will get the ACC shaft again and get the worse bowl possible based on our ACC standings. Right now we're 7th among the 8 current ACC bowl teams. So I wouldn't plan on anything besides the smurf bowl yet again.

The rule is that a team cannot be "jumped" in the Bowl pecking order if it has 2 more conference wins. Therefore if we beat Miami and are 5-3 in conference, then a team with a 3-5 conference record cannot be selected ahead of us. This rule came about after we and BC got the shaft in 2005.
If we lose to Miami we are probably a lock for San Fran, Boise or DC unless we spank the mutts.

For one, I would love to go to Nashville, but that's just a personal thing.
Second, I think we have now officially been predicted to go to every possible ACC bowl since the season started.
