I'm probably not going to post again for a while, but I just want to tell everyone that I have really appreciated the loyalty to Tech on this board. I am just so destroyed by the NCAA ruling that I've got to take some time off from sports for a while. If I weren't 55 years old, I would cry - truth is, I did.
Tech was (note I didn't say "is" ) different, and I have always taken great pride in the way in which we conduct our football program. That "difference" has been ripped from me and us now. I am so angry that Dave Braine gets to get up this morning, have coffee, go to work and collect an enormous salary after what he has done and I do mean he is responsible. As he said, the most important thing was the HE felt good in the evening - screw him.
I don't care about the argument that the problem was on the academic or advising side. Hell, by that logic no one at the head of a program would ever be responsible for anything. HE is the person in the ultimate responsible position as Athlectic DIRECTOR (note the word "DIRECTOR".
I'm injured, mad and feel incredible sorrow that this has happened to my beloved institution. If I could make it happen, I would fire the Athletic Director and the President. If firing the President is overreacting, then I don't care - that is the collateral damage that happens when something this destructive happens. Frankly, I want retribution. I want those guys at the top to suffer mightly for this. Their careers pale incomparison to the damage done to Tech. It's about more than football, it's about integrity. I say fire them all and let God sort them out. It was a tactic I was familar with in 1969 and it had a certain elegance to it.
Like I said, I won't be posting for a while. If you want to slam me at this point I really don't give a sh**, slam away. It can't hurt any more than this.
I appreciate you guys, good luck.
