So I was hoopin with the GT football team (old and current) tonight

For the uninformed, hoopin = playing basketball.

Old players: Jonathan "Freddy" Smith, Mark Logan, some more folks whose names i didnt know

Current: Morgan Burnett, Bebe (D. Thomas), Nesbitt (he was spectating), Corey Earls, Greg Smith, and some others I didnt recognize.


I guess they're done with classes so they were all out. I thought about asking them what they thought about the new coach but i didnt. I dont really know them like that and most of them aren't likely to be discussing matters like that with guys they arent close with.

But yeah Burnett is a beast on the boards and Thomas is a pretty good bball player.

So there's no real point to this post, I just thought I'd share. I'm sorry i disappointed you guys and couldnt get any insider information tho. :hsugh:

Were you at the courts at the CRC? When was that? I was there around 5-6:30 taking some shots up there. If you were there then, I was the guy in the middle courts who couldn't nail a 3 to save his life.

Yeah that's where I was.

But sorry I play on the first courts where the ballers play and I was the guy hitting threes in 6'5" football players faces. Oh yeah its true. :laugh:

That is where the ballers play. The middle courts are for the folks practicing their shooting or folks playing 21, the last courts are for Asian guys playing badminton.

I watched Michael Johnson play in intramurals against a bunch of frat guys 2 yrs ago.

He was killing them!
 
You know they're not supposed to play basketball, right? They'd get in major trouble if they sprained an ankle or worse playing bball.

:laugher: They've never cared and never will. I remember when Calvin was playin one time and some guy who didnt know any better fouled him hard as he went for a layup.

In an instant the whole team ran over there and was bout to beat the poor guy up. :laugher:

The athletes are allowed to play intramurals just as long as it is not the sport they play. I remember MJ ballin out everyone else, I was an IM referee. Then again he IS like 6'7" and a freakish athlete. In Spring of 2005 I remember several people talking about Calvin doing a sick 360 dunk...not a big surprise there since he did get a 49 inch vert (one handed college standard)
 
Yeah, vrjacket, but individual coaches often don't let their guys play sports at the CRC, especially basketball.

Yeah I'm sure there is a high probability for an ankle sprain. Its fun to see those guys play though. I've seen several members of the basketball team running on the front courts in the summer.
