Play the triple option against UGA's defense and they'll eat it alive.
The last 3 times we beat UGA we were running triple option.
Read the above sentence again.
Remember the Godsey 40 yd TD run? Triple option play with the RB as the hand-off and a motion WR as the pitch man.
Our last great offensive highlight vs UGA was on a triple option play.
Very true but when we played against a speed team we had problems with it ala fsu.
History disagrees. We put 500 yards on FSU in 99, and a large chunk of our running game that game was triple option. Joe had 100 yards rushing if I remember correctly, because all our option was 3O. And that was the year FSU won the NC, if I recall, with a stifling defense that was based on speed.
3 option is not foiled by speed, it's foiled by discipline. It is exactly and precisely how you attack fast, undisciplined defenses. It won't work vs Wake, but would definitely work vs FSU.
Now I'm all for agreeing that we don't want to run triple option out of a tight set with 0 or 1 WR, like the Navy flexbone or the old Nebraska stuff, but triple option can work, has worked, and will work in the future vs teams with fast, talented defenses. The only reason it doesn't work in the NFL isn't speed, it's salary. You've got way too much cash sunk into your QB to let him take all those hits.
