Just for the sake of being the devil's advocate here,
let's look at what we DID do either better than ND, or better than our norm.

According to the "stat sheet" we:
1: were 100% at scoring in the red zone.

2: our defense scored 19 yards in sacks compared to ND's 14 yds.

3: GT was 100% at field goals where ND was 0%.

4: Ball had no interceptions.

5: We had no fumbles.

6: #'s 4 & 6 resulting in no turnovers against GT.

Rose colored glasses you may ask?
Very possibly so, but I'm just saying that we did improve in some areas.
What is Rome trying to do here? It's easy for us to dwell on the faults of our team here as there are many to dwell on. Yes, we got beat. But it was by a better team. Heaven forbid....what is he saying? How were they better? As I see it, they out quarterbacked us for one thing. Plus, they controlled the clock in their favor. By the end of the 3rd qtr. ND had possessed the ball more than GT did for the whole game. Evidently they had greater depth than we since we seemed to get tired out before they did.
Reggie Ball did pretty good compared to earlier games. This tells me that after the season opener, he may just come around and dazzle us with some greatness. Who knows? Could happen...........

Some good points 'Rome', there were certainly some positive to be taken from playing such a tight game against a team that, more or less, is probably better than you are, or at least has more depth and a better O-line.

But ...

...let's not get carried away here. :laugher:

...

Let me come back and add that nothing would make me happier than to see RB have a solid senior season and lead the Jackets to some big wins, victory over UGA, big bowl game, etc. I was just poking a little fun at the comment. While RB is not one of my favorites in the long-line of GT student-athletes, I certainly pull for him each and every Saturday (or sometimes Thursday) to lead the white and gold to victory.

Very good points, I think we should be very pleased after last night. Thank you for your positive approach and optimism, pessimism is running a little high right now on this board.
