How long until CPJ gets some offers from bigger schools?

I know it is a nightmare to think about, but we have to lock this guy up.

If you were CPJ, and someone like ND, Texas, OSU, anyone like that called and wanted to showcase his TO, what would you do, especially after the thrill of beating UGAg and winning the ACC a few times in a row has worn...

Oh God, please keep him here forever...

FOUL, stop bringing things like this up. He is here and here to stay a while. I dont think Paul is the type of person that would come to a place have success and then leave. He wants to win a national title and he wouldn't have come here if he didnt think he had a chance.

That makes sense, ignore it and hope it never happens.

And stop bringing things like this up? When have I or anyone else?

We need to be in Drad's ear. The fans and the boosters got Gay-ley fired, can we lock up CPJ??? YES!!!

He just had a 9-3 season with apparently the second youngest team in the nation and just beat the preseason #1 with a VERY young starting lineup. He can recruit for a winning team in downtown Atlanta and we have the boosters to match anybody's offer. Even if he was some Saban/Petrino back-stabber, I can't see any cow college offering more than us.

I may be wrong but I have a belief he may be here for a long time.......here is why.......I don't think the "powers" of college football are interested in the triple option. Just my opinion but I don't see the ND's, etc. running his offense. I know it is successful but I just think that wil "scare" some away.

k33, you're a jackass poster

listen to info and you will know that CPJ has no interest in changing jobs. it took Tech to get him from Navy and he had many other offers while there.

listen to the man say it himself. why would he leave now?

That is what I don't know about. Hope you are right.

First off, **** you, 2nd off, sorry I care about the future.
I WANT TO BEAT UGAG EVERY FREAKING YEAR UNTIL THE END OF TIME AND I SEE CPJ DOING THAT FOR US.

you just keep posting some stupid stuff thats all im saying

I guess I will run my thoughts through the thought police before I post then.

Sorry your highness.

Kevinw33,

I brought this up on two other posts. I was worried about this until I heard coach on 790 this morning. One of the Mayhem guys asked him about his phone ringing and he pretty much put my mind at ease.

Please excuse my lack of memory. The following quotes are substantively correct but not necessarily verbatim:

* He said that "Tech wasn't the first (only?) job he was offered." The implication is that it was something about Tech that got him to leave Navy.

* He said "We've got a lot to accomplish", and "winning national championships is why I came here." The implication is that he'll be with us a while.

I agree with you though. I'll use this thread to say, for the 3rd time now, we need to make sure he never has a reason to leave us. I trust DRad. He got him here - he'll keep him here.

I think a LOT of them will look at Michigan, and be like, we DONT want that to happen HERE.

Many in Michigan are already regretting the decision to hire Rodriguez (although they shouldn't. He is a great coach).

However, not many football factories want that dropoff, when they can win with a more traditional coach, who will probably not have as much of a dropoff.

Btw, I don't think PJ cares 2 hoots about his "system". He just wants to win, and if the system stops winning him games, he will create a new one.

Paul Johnson is pretty well set here. He's got a marvelous recruiting base, with deep ties to the state and area. He's in one of the less murderous conferences, a conference that is begging for legitimate top team. He inherited players that, although he didn't recruit, have taken to his style with vigor, and have flourished in it. We do have some pretty deep pockets with our donors. He has an AD who is absolutely stellar. And a fan base that won't turn on him for winning 8 games a year and beating UGA.

Honestly though, if any GT coach wants to make a run somewhere else, for either money or glory, then he should't let the door hit him on the way out. Coach Johnson's style is that if you don't want to be here, then you should leave. I think it applies to him as well. It would be one thing if the school was fighting him, or he felt slighted about something.

AK - you win. I'm looking at this totally wrong. He'll be here for a while and if he's the kind to bolt for cash then so be it. Thanks for the post

The only thing that puts my mind at ease is the thought that not many schools would want to run the triple option style offense... except Nebraska. They have pretty deep pockets for the football program.

PJ also knows that as the profile of the job goes up, the job security goes down and the expectations rise.

He's at a good place at GT where he has lived before, has enough talent to win championships, and knows that he won't be fired on a whim.

Let's also not forget that Coach Johnson is well into his 50s (60s?), and isn't exactly an up-and-comming, Urban Meyer-esque, get-the-guy-and-keep-him-for-20-years kind of guy.

He's actually only 51.
