Here are some tidbits of info per "Dinner with Dave":

1. Vanderbilt game will be a 6:00 start

2. Auburn series has been changed. It will now be a four game series (2003-06), with NO Ga. Dome game. '03 at GT, '04 at AU, '05 at GT & '06 at AU

3. Look for some bigger name opponents popping up on future schedules. An orange clad gang from north of GA is a good possibility

4. Expect no real uniform changes for 2002, with only the numbers' "font" changing back to a more block style

This is all from a friend that attended a small function with Dave Braine.

thanks for the heads up the news buz

I had lunch with one of the big A-T contributers and he just happens to have his seats where the premium locations are and he is upset.

He says there is no way they are going to get $1500 a pop for those seats.

He also said that even if you move some senior fans from the other side that the sun would be too intense on that side.

It is going to be interesting to see how that plays out.

Wouldn't it be better to get Auburn in the even years when we have Duke, Wake, Vir and a weak OOC team? Look at our home games in 03: UGAG, Marylamb, Allburn, UNC, NC State, Clem's son

Too many good teams and/or sell out teams in the odd years. We need one of those teams in even years and Duke in the odd years.

I'm just glad we don't play Auburn in that antiseptic dome anymore. This is good news that we get to open up the expanded stadium with Auburn. That is the perfect way to do it. It does tend to load up the Odd Years with good teams for the home schedule though. Also, I'd love to play Tennessee again.

We can compete with and beat any of these teams.

This is all good news IMHO. We always hosted Auburn on the odd-numbered years, so this is keeping with tradition.

I'll never forget Bo Jackson's last minute 70 yard TD run to beat us 17-14 in 1985. We were leading 14-10 the whole second half. That was Auburn's seventh win in a row against us. Auburn hammered us in 1986, but in 1987, they beat us again in the last minutes of the game, 20-10, in a close one in Ross' first year. That made it nine in a row, and GT dropped 'em from the schedule. I always thought Bill Curry had some form of Auburnitis.

FH,
I think Auburn had us beat in the talent department back in the Curry days. We could rise up and give 'em a fight, but we always lost because they had one or two more players than we did. Now, once he got to Bama, he should have started beating them...but it wasn't meant to be.

Now, on to the business at hand. Barring a recruiting collapse, we should match up well against Auburn in talent from '03 to '06. They will not just be able to show up and beat us. They'll have to work for their victories, just like we will. Outside of stadium size, they beat us in absolutely nothing.

bug,
I can't wait to beat Auburn in 2003 and avenge the the nine game losing streak from '79 to '87 of which the last seven I suffered through live. GT always played 'em close at Grant Field, but got routed every time we went to their house.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">We should've had 'em in 85 and 87. You're right though. We never put up much of a fight in their stadium. Back then, Auburn beat us on pure talent. In today's world, we can match up with them or even "out-talent" Auburn. So much has changed since 1987. I would have loved to watch them try to defense Lil Joe during '98/'99. That would have been humorous.

BTW, when is this going to be official? I've only heard it on this board. What do some of you think about playing the Urnge Hoard from up North?

Auburn, Tennessee, eight ACC games, UGAg, and one OOC game(preferably another SEC team). Now that would be a good permanent football schedule. No yawners there.

Auburn and Tennessee. Bring 'em back permanent!
I miss the "old days" of having those traditional rivalries that TECh "had to" give up when we got into ACC play. Wouldn't it be great to have those games to look forward to every year!
